AVAIO Digital and Cummins Join Forces to Develop AI-Ready Data Centers
In a strategic move to enhance its data center capabilities,
AVAIO Digital has announced a partnership with
Cummins Inc., gearing up for the construction of its first four campuses across the United States. This collaboration aims to provide robust backup power solutions critical for the efficient operation of AI and cloud services, marking a significant step in the evolution of data center infrastructure.
Investment in Technology
The agreement will see AVAIO Digital procure advanced generators from Cummins, ensuring that their facilities maintain reliable power supply amid the demanding requirements of today’s computing landscape. This partnership is part of a broader strategy, where AVAIO will also integrate switchgear, power distribution units (PDUs), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), chillers, and high-voltage substation breakers. In total, the company is committing over
$200 million in equipment purchases over the next 18 months, aiming to deliver energized data centers by 2026.
Supporting AI Deployments
As data centers continue to evolve, the push for deploying GPU-intensive training and inference models is becoming increasingly vital. The integration of sophisticated technologies through this partnership is designed not only to improve reliability and efficiency but also to support the high-density power requirements expected in the future, targeting up to
300 kW per rack and beyond.
AVAI O Digital’s CEO,
Mark McComiskey, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing that after four years of investment in developing cloud and AI-ready campuses, the company is set to commence construction in 2025. The collaboration aligns with the increasing demand for data processing capacity while benefiting the communities that AVAIO serves.
Emphasis on Sustainability
In line with industry trends, several AVAIO campuses will feature on-site, behind-the-meter utility-scale solar generation. This strategic move responds to the critical need for sustainable energy sources for computing needs.
Joe Hubbard, Senior Director of Global Design and Delivery at AVAIO Digital, highlighted the importance of this partnership in meeting the growing need for large-scale, sustainable cloud and AI projects.
A Focused Future
The collaboration between AVAIO Digital and Cummins symbolizes a significant commitment to advancing data center technology and sustainability. As the demand for AI and cloud computing continues to surge, these initiatives are expected to pave the way for future expansions and innovations in the sector. The partnerships not only enhance AVAIO’s operational capabilities but also set a precedent in the industry for sustainable practices.
