Bentley Unveils the 1919 Collection
In a thrilling announcement, Bentley Motors has introduced the
1919 Collection, an exclusive apparel line that honors the brand’s long-standing legacy and passion for motorsports. Designed by the esteemed external creative director Mai Izawa, this limited edition collection will be available solely at the
Goodwood Festival of Speed and
Monterey Car Week, showcasing the spirit of automotive enthusiasts from generations past.
The collection’s hallmark piece is the
chore jacket, crafted from durable cotton oxford fabric that promises to age beautifully, much like Bentley’s vehicles. Each time it’s worn, it develops a unique character, mirroring the company’s philosophy that values craftsmanship and heritage since its foundation in 1919.
Mai Izawa, an acclaimed designer and the daughter of legendary racing figure Tetsu Izawa, has infused the collection with her rich background in motorsports and art. Growing up surrounded by these influences, she understands the unique bond shared among motorsport lovers, which she aimed to capture in the
1919 Collection.
Inspiration Behind the Collection
Having a family lineage steeped in motorsport, with her father participating in the European Formula Two Championship and also one of the first Japanese drivers at the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race, Mai brings a personal touch to the design. This collection symbolizes the shared stories and experiences of Bentley enthusiasts, echoing the sentiment of “
I was there,” as it captures the spirit of memorable events.
The Signature Chore Jacket
The
chore jacket not only reflects durability with its high-quality materials but also embodies a historic resonance with the traditional
Bentley Green color. Detailed with pockets and exquisite white chain-stitch embroidery of Bentley’s iconic wing emblem and the phrase “
Bentley Motors Since 1919,” this jacket is designed to stand out. A removable Velcro label features the phrase “
FULL SEND,” a nod to standout moments in motorsport culture, particularly honoring stunt driver Travis Pastrana.
From the copper buttons to the chain-stitch details, every facet of the jacket demonstrates Bentley’s commitment to craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Additional Items in the Collection
Complementing the chore jacket, the
1919 Collection also offers a variety of high-quality apparel, including:
- - A crew neck sweatshirt made from heavyweight reverse-weave fabric
- - Short-sleeve polo shirts
- - American-style t-shirts
Additionally, it features classic six-panel cotton caps, durable cotton canvas tote bags, and embroidered keyrings to complete the collection.
Purchase Information
The
1919 Collection will only be sold through Bentley’s stands at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and during Monterey Car Week in California for the 2026 season. Plans are in place to release new limited collections each season, further establishing these items as rare collector's pieces.
Mai Izawa's Vision
Mai Izawa comments on the importance of the brand's community aspect, reflective of the early Bentley Boys and Girls. “It’s not just about winning races but how those victories are celebrated and shared,” she states. With the
1919 Collection, she desires to honor the rich history and stories woven by genuine Bentley enthusiasts, staying true to the spirit of the brand.
This remarkable collection serves as a bridge between the past and present, echoing the values of craftsmanship, heritage, and a deep love for automobile history that Bentley Motors is renowned for.
