Summary of the Indo-Japan Forum
On November 15, 2025, President Nasuham Toyo of Okayama University participated in the 4th Indo-Japan University Forum held at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad. This event commemorated the 40th anniversary of the Japan-India science and technology cooperation agreement, aiming to strengthen collaboration among universities, research institutes, and companies from both nations as well as to promote human resource exchange. The forum was organized by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).
The theme of this year's forum focused on promoting further brain circulation to enhance Japan-India collaboration in science and technology. A total of 49 universities, research institutions, and companies from Japan joined 36 universities and research centers from India. Through high-level roundtable discussions and individual meetings, the deepening of academic and industrial collaboration between Japan and India was sought after.
One of the significant roundtable discussions was co-chaired by President Nasuham and Suman Chakraborty, President of IIT Kharagpur, focusing on strengthening collaborative research efforts among the seven universities from Japan and India. During individual meetings, discussions were held with four Indian universities regarding their future cooperation and the potential for specific collaborations.
This forum marks a pivotal moment for Okayama University to enhance its partnerships beyond Kolkata, broadening its reach to universities and research institutions across India. The university aims to deepen academic and industrial collaboration between Japan and India, promoting the development of global human resources and enhancing research capabilities. Continued efforts are underway to support the activities of Okayama University as a core research university with unique characteristics.
