Westwell Debuts Innovative E-Truck S2 and Q-Truck at TOC Europe 2025

Westwell's Innovations: E-Truck S2 and Q-Truck at TOC Europe 2025

Westwell took to the stage at TOC Europe 2025, showcasing its latest contributions to the logistics and heavy-duty vehicle sector with the unveiling of the next-gen E-Truck S2 and the advanced Q-Truck. Taking place from June 17–19 in Rotterdam, the event marked a significant milestone for the truck manufacturer, underlining its commitment to sustainable and intelligent freight operations under the theme of "AI YOUR LOGISTICS."

E-Truck S2: A Leap Forward in Performance and Design

The E-Truck S2 is designed as a fully electric heavy-duty truck with autonomous capabilities, grown from the success of its predecessor, the E-Truck S1. Already making a mark in ports worldwide, including those in Thailand, Peru, and Pakistan, the S2 promises to resolve previous issues related to vibrations, noise levels, and harmful emissions, thus enhancing the driver's experience. Key features include an air-ride seat for comfort and a robust air conditioning system to maintain optimal cabin temperature, effectively addressing driver needs.

But the advancements don’t stop there. The S2 integrates a transmission-free design alongside a centralized lubrication system, simplifying maintenance and reducing costs significantly. This innovative approach not only optimizes performance but emphasizes ease of use for operators and logistics managers alike.

AI-Driven Efficiency and Scalability

A notable highlight of the E-Truck S2 is its AI-VCU (Vehicle Control Unit) which harnesses multi-modal AI algorithms to oversee performance, energy efficiency, and durability of its components in real-time. By being adaptable to driving behavior, environmental conditions, and overall system status, this truck gets smarter with every mile covered.

Its engineering includes a wheel-side reduction axle coupled with air suspension that absorbs shocks from container loads and enhances roll stability by a remarkable 25%. Additionally, a dual-action hydraulic lift system powered by PTO significantly accelerates loading processes.

With a cab space of 1540×1550×1750mm, the S2 prioritizes ergonomic comfort while delivering over 16 hours of operational time per charge, thanks to its high-capacity LFP battery options (282kWh and 310kWh). Importantly, it utilizes Westwell's next-gen steer-by-wire chassis (2.0) to ensure readiness for future driverless operations through seamless scalability.

Q-Truck: Raising the Bar for Autonomous Logistics

The Q-Truck, also featured at the event, is a previously acclaimed model back for display due to its impactful performance in the field. Designed with a proprietary multi-task and multi-view perception engine, the Q-Truck incorporates features such as fused front sensing and Bird's Eye View (BEV) capabilities, alongside advanced decision-making driven by transformer-based algorithms. This ensures unparalleled situational awareness and precision during autonomous operations.

Already in commercial use across a multitude of global ports, the Q-Truck is setting standards for what is achievable in autonomous logistics. At the Port of Felixstowe in the UK, the Q-Truck has been fully integrated into the port's workflow, facilitating round-the-clock unmanned operations. Similarly, CSP Abu Dhabi Terminal has expanded its fleet with additional Q-Trucks, showcasing the efficiency gains possible through these autonomous systems.

Vision for the Future of Logistics

In a compelling statement made during the event, Westwell's President Zhang Rong emphasized that the future of logistics is grounded in smart, sustainable, and collaborative frameworks. He observed that AI is reshaping the entire logistics infrastructure, making environmental responsibility an essential consideration in the logistics space. This transformation reflects broader trends seen in seaports, airports, and freight networks where self-optimizing, eco-friendly systems are becoming commonplace.

Overall, Westwell's contribution to the logistics sector signifies a move towards a more integrated, intelligent, and sustainable future, showcasing advancements poised to redefine the industry landscape. As they continue to innovate, the potential for AI and electric vehicles to mitigate operational challenges strengthens, offering a glimpse into the evolving world of logistics.
