Shanghai Electric Unveils Robotic Innovations at WAIC 2026, Showcasing Integrated Intelligence

Shanghai Electric Unveils Advanced Robotic Solutions at WAIC 2026

At the recent World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2026, Shanghai Electric showcased a groundbreaking portfolio of integrated intelligence solutions tailored for high-end manufacturing operations. These advancements are significant for industries involving intricate tasks, complex objects, and confined spaces, where precision and constant stability are more critical than ever.

Under the vibrant theme "AI for All: Intelligent Equipment Shining Without Limits," the company highlighted its capabilities in various fields, emphasizing humanoid robots with 41 degrees of freedom, pipeline inspection robots with a positioning accuracy of ±1 mm, and an impressive lineup of 51 industrial-grade AI agents.

The rationale behind these innovations was articulated by Wang Chunlei, Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Electric's Robotics Business Unit. He stated, "The true value of integrated intelligence lies in understanding real industrial tasks, merging the strength, precision, and stability of machines with human experience and judgment to foster a genuine paradigm of human-machine collaboration."

Shanghai Electric's robotics portfolio focuses on five key industrial scenarios: connector insertion, electrical operations, flexible sorting, intelligent assembly, and pipe processing. Among the standout designs is the bipedal humanoid robot 'SUYUAN', which ensures enhanced mobility equipped with a multimodal visual detection system and a dual battery hot-swap system for versatile operational capabilities across various tasks like inspection, material handling, and assembly.

Additionally, the Wheeled Humanoid Industrial Robot 'TUOYUAN' employs integrated intelligence and hybrid control of force and position, allowing it to handle a variety of tasks, including multiple specifications for connector insertion and categorizing materials efficiently.

Another notable machine is the Bionic Wheeled Humanoid Robot 'Mermaid', capable of autonomously identifying buttons, knobs, and pneumatic switches. It generates operational paths in real-time, showcasing its versatility.

Moreover, the Autonomous Robot for Internal Pipe Wall Beveling is adept at operating in confined spaces, able to position and process thousands of hole edges with impressive accuracy, transmitting data in real-time for optimal efficiency.

In addition to these impressive robots, Shanghai Electric unveiled its range of core components, revealing innovations such as a planetary roller screw, offering over three times the load capacity of conventional ball screws. Their advanced robotic dexterity is reflected in their right-handed DexHand, designed to meet a myriad of gripping and handling requirements.

With its launch of 51 models and AI agents under the "StarCloud Intelligent Manufacturing" series, Shanghai Electric encompasses three main domains: R&D and design, production and manufacturing, as well as operations and maintenance. These agents are embedded in decision-making robotic systems and the operational logic of AI-driven smart factories, transforming industrial experiences into digitized, reusable capabilities.

Additionally, the company released a comprehensive "White Paper on Smart Factory Technology with Native AI", proposing an active evolution architecture for real-time, closed-loop data production optimization. This innovative framework equips factories with self-perception, self-decision, and self-execution capabilities.

At the core of this architecture are three essential layers: the AI factory brain as a "control center," integrated industrial agents and robots forming the "execution network," and the physical twin acting as a "digital mirror." This holistic vision aims to both dismantle traditional hierarchies and interconnect data silos in manufacturing.

Leveraging its extensive industrial experience and integrated solution capabilities, Shanghai Electric is positioned to further propel AI integration within industrial contexts. Their continued commitment addresses the technical challenges faced by integrated intelligence in complex environments and accelerates the large-scale deployment of AI-native smart factories, simultaneously offering replicable solutions across diverse manufacturing settings.
