Concept and Production
Both commercials are meticulously crafted to reflect the nuances of their respective decades. The
1950 New York segment revives the origins of the first multi-purpose credit card, portraying an episode from the founder's restaurant. To create an authentic atmosphere, around 40 extras were engaged, filmed in black and white to reflect the visual aesthetics of the era.
The
1960 Tokyo segment recreates scenes from Japan’s first credit card company amidst its post-war economic boom. It captures the joyous dining moments of the times, conveying the vibrant energy of the period.
To promote authenticity, the production team paid careful attention to detail in costumes, hairstyles, and even the menus, guided by culinary professionals to replicate popular recipes from that time. The set design incorporated every element essential to creating the desired experience, with a focus on movement and interaction, showcasing Hasegawa's impressive acting skills as he adapted to the complex scenes.
