About Tohoku Farm

Founded in 1917, Tohoku Farm initially focused on thoroughbred horse production and has since transitioned to a circular farming model utilizing thoroughbred manure since 1987. Spanning approximately 100 hectares, the farm cultivates organic vegetables, herbs, and rice without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers over 10 hectares. They also operate a free-range chicken farm, producing branded eggs known as “aotama” and “akatama.” Furthermore, their corn feed for the chickens is grown organically on-site.

Beyond agricultural activity, Tohoku Farm is home to diverse wild mountain plants and herbs, supplying around 100 different ingredients directly to Hotel Continental Fuchu each year. The farm prioritizes sustainable practices and aims to promote a symbiotic relationship with nature, ensuring that its agricultural practices remain viable for future generations.

Connecting Back to Nature

The regenerative agriculture practices employed at Tohoku Farm create a cycle connecting the rich nature of Aomori to the culinary landscape of Tokyo. As the monetary benefits flow from Tokyo back to Aomori, local job creation fosters agricultural advancement.
