Overview of the JIPDEC Seminar on the Revised Personal Data Protection Law

The Japan Information Economy Society Promotion Association (JIPDEC) will hold a seminar titled "Overview of the Revised Personal Data Protection Law and Future Initiatives" on October 27, 2026. This seminar aims to address the changes brought about by the recent revisions to the law, which were enacted on July 10, 2026.

As companies rapidly integrate AI technologies, the importance of utilizing data while considering privacy has become a significant management issue. The newly revised Personal Data Protection Law introduces measures to promote appropriate data usage in light of AI applications, includes provisions to handle risks adequately, and establishes a penalty system to enforce compliance effectively.
