Background to the Award

M-SOLUTIONS took advantage of the human resource donation system in Asahikawa City by contributing a total of 3.6 million yen and dispatching a skilled system engineer. By using the no-code business improvement platform 'kintone' provided by Cybozu, the company supported city officials in developing and operating their own applications efficiently. Their comprehensive assistance covered everything from design to implementation and utilization, effectively promoting workplace efficiency and fostering an environment where IT could be sustainably leveraged within the city’s government offices. Such positive impacts led to the awarding of this commendation.

Efforts in Asahikawa City

Since 2014, M-SOLUTIONS has collaborated with Asahikawa City and Tokikawa Town to introduce a forest bath mental healthcare program. With support from the Economic Tourism Department of Asahikawa City, a development center was established in April 2016. This center not only served as a business hub but also engaged in joint research with the Asahikawa National College of Technology and promoted employment of local talents, including those looking to return home. In 2023 and beyond, M-SOLUTIONS has actively engaged in information exchange with Asahikawa City through events related to kintone and has pledged support in building kintone applications for the health prevention department in 2024.

Since the fiscal year 2022, Asahikawa City has been focusing on improvements in operations and citizen services utilizing no-code and low-code tools. Over 3,000 applications have been created to this date, with around 250 actively in use across 80 tasks. However, the city faces challenges such as insufficient time for staff to allocate toward development amid their regular duties, as well as a lack of experience that hinders timely operational launches. The partnership with M-SOLUTIONS provided invaluable aid in dealing with these issues, highlighting that the dispatched engineer played a crucial role in app development and operations that have critically accelerated app development within the offices. The city is keen to leverage M-SOLUTIONS' expertise for further improvements in operations and citizen services.

Starting in 2023, M-SOLUTIONS has promoted a product named 'Smart at Local Government DX' that leverages kintone for streamlining municipal operations.
