World Milk Day NFT Design Contest Results Announced

The '2nd World Milk Day NFT Design Contest' hosted by the Metagri Research Institute, led by Yuichiro Kai of Noujoujin Co., Ltd., celebrated its winners in honor of World Milk Day on June 1. This year, the contest received 30 submissions from across the country, showcasing remarkable designs infused with love for dairy and ranching, selected through community voting. In addition, a participatory campaign called the 'Milk Day Challenge' will be initiated to highlight the allure of milk and dairy products. These initiatives are part of a special collaboration with Kawakami Farm, operated by Tetsuya Kawakami in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture.

What is World Milk Day?

June 1 marks World Milk Day, a date established by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in 2001 to raise awareness about milk and the dairy sector's significance in society. In Japan, since 2007, the Japan Milk Promotion Organization has designated June 1 as 'Milk Day,' with the entire month celebrated as 'Milk Month.' Various initiatives have been implemented to rediscover the value of milk and dairy products. The Metagri Research Institute actively supports this initiative by promoting the excitement of dairy farming through design and technology.

Contest Results

The winners of the contest, as voted by members of the Metagri community and the public, are as follows:

• - Grand Prize: Tetsuya Kawakami for his piece titled 'Metagri Milk Cow 2025'

Kawakami expressed his joy upon receiving the award again this year, stating, "I am extremely honored to be recognized again, especially among 30 wonderful entries. I approached this project determined to upgrade last year's work. I hope this contest contributes to the enthusiasm for the dairy industry!"

New Initiative: Milk Day Challenge

Starting June 1, we will launch the 'Milk Day Challenge,' inviting participants to share their appreciation for the milk and dairy products lovingly produced by farmers. It is a fun, easy way to participate by simply posting snapshots of your experiences, such as 'I drank milk,' 'I enjoyed yogurt,' or 'I cooked a dish with cheese.'

• - Duration: June 1, 2025, to June 30, 2025, at 11:59 PM
• - How to Participate:

1. Join the designated Discord channel of the Metagri Research Institute.
2. Post photos and comments about milk or dairy items once a day in the dedicated Discord channel. Each post will earn you one point.
3. Participants achieving points will receive rewards.

By posting for 20 days (20 points), participants will receive exciting prizes:

• - Reward 1: Special canelé made with premium Kawakami Farm milk, known for its rich flavor and moist texture.
• - Reward 2: A 'Title NFT,' a special NFT inspired by the contest-winning design based on points earned - 20 points gets you a Gold Title NFT, 15 points a Silver, and 10 points a Bronze.

Introducing Kawakami Farm

Led by Tetsuya Kawakami, Kawakami Farm in Shimane Prefecture is home to innovative dairy practices. After graduating from Tottori Agricultural University, he became a dairy farmer and took over operations in 2016. He has since achieved accolades, including the Excellence Award at the All Japan Dairy Farmers Conference and representing Shimane at an artificial insemination technology presentation.
