Educational Cooking Classes for Kids: A Lesson on Life and Food
This summer, G-FACTORY Corporation has opened the doors for an educational cooking event aimed at children, titled "What’s Inside a Fish? The Lesson of 'Itadakimasu'". Due to an overwhelming response, with over 100 applications received within just three days of opening, additional sessions have been added for parents eager to enroll their kids.
Originally, this unique event was designed to run over four days for a total of 32 participants. However, it has quickly become fully booked and attracted numerous inquiries for additional slots, illustrating the growing interest among parents regarding their children's relationship with food.
To accommodate this demand, G-FACTORY will host three extra sessions on July 28, August 18, and August 25, 2026, each lasting approximately two hours. Registration can now be resumed for these newly added dates, where kids, from preschool age to sixth graders, will engage in hands-on learning about food origins and preparation. This initiative emphasizes the importance of understanding the food we eat and the significance of 'Itadakimasu', a traditional Japanese phrase expressing gratitude for the meal.

Hands-On Learning Experience
Children will participate in activities starting with the dissection of a whole sea bream, where professional chefs will explain the anatomy of fish, including scales, bones, and internal organs. They will learn how different fish parts can be transformed into various dishes, underscoring the philosophy of utilizing every part of the fish in traditional Japanese cuisine. This approach promotes an understanding of sustainability and respect for life.
Following the demonstration, kids will have the opportunity to roll sushi using a variety of fresh ingredients, including bream, tuna, squid, shrimp, and salmon. Participants will savor the sushi they've crafted themselves, making the connection between food and the responsibility of respecting life through the act of eating.
Educational Materials
Each participant will receive a specialized worksheet to document their learning experience. This worksheet is designed to help them reflect on what they observed during the lesson about the structure of fish, how ingredients become dishes, and the significance of utilizing all parts of the fish. This makes it a perfect tool for summer homework, merging fun with educational value.
Commitment to Education
G-FACTORY operates the cooking school with the goal of transforming dreams into reality while spreading the joy of Japanese cuisine around the world. They focus on training aspiring sushi chefs and yakitori cooks but have also recognized the need to engage children through educational programs. The organization believes that the act of eating is becoming increasingly distanced from children in modern society, with pre-packaged food becoming the norm.
By offering this educational experience, G-FACTORY aims to bridge this gap, allowing children to gain firsthand insights into the origins of their food and fostering a sense of gratitude towards those who produce it. With over 100 children already expressing interest, G-FACTORY is committed to expanding this initiative to teach children the value of food, one meal at a time.
