EBANX Launches New Recurring Payments Feature Boosting Access for SaaS and Streaming in Brazil

Unlocking Access to Digital Services in Brazil

In a landmark development for the Brazilian digital economy, Pix Automático, a cutting-edge recurring payments feature, officially launched on June 16, 2025. This initiative aims to reach up to 60 million consumers in Brazil who currently lack access to credit cards, allowing them to engage with subscription services in unprecedented ways. Managed by EBANX, a pioneering technology company, this feature integrates seamlessly into Brazil's existing Pix instant payment system, which already boasts a remarkable 91% penetration among the adult population.

What is Pix Automático?

Pix Automático represents a significant advancement in the way Brazilians can make recurring payments. This feature allows businesses and consumers to automate payment processes, thereby facilitating easier access to digital goods and services. As streaming platforms and SaaS (Software as a Service) companies are leading the charge, they will begin incorporating this automated payment option into their systems directly through EBANX’s platform.

According to data from the Central Bank of Brazil, approximately 170 million consumers are currently using Pix, with 60 million not having access to traditional credit cards. This gap is a crucial focus for EBANX, as they strive to democratize access to digital commerce.

Potential Revenue Growth

The introduction of Pix Automático could unlock more than USD 30 billion in online recurring payments within just two years. This figure comes from findings in EBANX's extensive report, Beyond Borders 2025. Eduardo de Abreu, VP of Product at EBANX, emphasized that this feature is essential for democratizing access to subscription services, allowing Brazilians better financial control and promoting economic inclusion.

With e-commerce in Brazil poised to grow by 40% in the coming two years, this development comes at a crucial time for many businesses. EBANX anticipates that with the integration of Pix Automático, the method will surpass credit cards as the dominant payment method by the end of 2025. This shift is vital considering that 79% of streaming companies and 86% of SaaS businesses currently rely solely on credit cards for their transactions.

E-commerce Expansion and Market Opportunities

The new recurring payment system is expected to significantly alter transaction volumes across industries previously dominated by traditional payment methods. As per the forecasts, sectors with low participation from Pix, particularly streaming and SaaS, will see substantial changes. Currently, Pix accounts for only 13% of the payment volume in the SaaS sector and 2% in streaming services, poised to increase drastically as more businesses adopt this new payment faciliity.

Furthermore, while traditional card volumes are expected to continue growing within sectors focused on recurring payments, Pix Automático will likely enhance overall transaction volume and diversify available payment options for customers. The market projections imply that Brazilian e-commerce will add approximately USD 167 billion to the online purchasing landscape, providing a more robust environment for both consumers and businesses.
