The Lovett Center Launches as Independent Outpatient Practice for Mental Health Care

The Lovett Center has officially transitioned into an independent outpatient facility, emphasizing its dedication to comprehensive mental health care for individuals and families, particularly in Houston. Dr. Robert Hilliker, PhD, LCSW-S, LCDC, who serves as the Chief Clinical Officer, stated, "This transition reflects our dedication to being responsive to the evolving needs of our community." By streamlining its clinical focus, The Lovett Center aims to enhance the quality of care, concentrating particularly on tackling co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders through a psychodynamic perspective.

At The Lovett Center, treatments are designed to reflect the intricate nature of the human experience, considering not just the psychological, but also biological, social, cultural, and spiritual dimensions. Services encompass individual, group, and couples therapy for a diverse array of concerns such as trauma, grief, relationship issues, mood and personality disorders, and substance abuse recovery.

Among the standout programs are the intensive outpatient services dubbed Pathos for mental health and Prairie for substance use, which have already guided thousands towards recovery and emotional well-being. Dr. Hilliker emphasized, "Our core lies in collaboration, bringing together a multidisciplinary team under one roof to foster shared insight and meaningful outcomes for every client."

In addition to its Houston location, the Prairie Recovery Center, situated just outside the city, continues its mission of supporting individuals and families grappling with the harsh realities of addiction and mental health disorders. Hilliker, a recognized advocate for mental health access, appeared on Great Day Houston to coincide with Mental Health Awareness Month, sharing insights from his personal journey that includes 26 years of sobriety. He noted the growing positivity toward mental health, stating, "The stigma is slowly lifting, and that shift is creating room for more people to seek the support they need."

Reflecting on the foundation of the center, Hilliker stated, "We built this place to be a true clinical community. Healing is relational, and our work reflects that truth."
