The Global Finale of Huawei ICT Competition 2024-2025



The grand event of the Huawei ICT Competition 2024-2025 closed on May 25, 2025, in Shenzhen, China. This year, the competition witnessed a record attendance, gathering over 210,000 students and instructors from more than 2,000 universities across over 100 countries and regions. After a series of national and regional contests, 179 teams from 48 countries qualified for the global finals.

Unprecedented Scale and Participation


The participation in this competition marked the largest scale it has ever seen, showcasing the growing engagement in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) fields among youth worldwide. An array of innovative ideas and advanced technologies were on display as teams competed in various categories, including practice, innovation, and programming.

Winners of the Competition


The competition culminated in a ceremony honoring 18 outstanding teams from countries including China, Algeria, Brazil, Philippines, Morocco, Nigeria, Serbia, Tanzania, and Singapore. The winners of the Grand Prize for the Innovation Competition hailed from:

  • - Peking University (China)
  • - Technical Sciences Faculty, University of Kragujevac (Serbia)
  • - Faculty of Science and Technology, Moulay Ismail University (Morocco)

In the practical competition, notable winners included teams from:
  • - Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology (China)
  • - Instituto Federal do Tocantins (Brazil)
  • - Federal University of Technology Minna (Nigeria)
  • - A joint team from Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology, University of Dar es Salaam, and University of Dodoma (Tanzania)

The Cloud Track was won by:
  • - iACADEMY (Philippines)
  • - University Batna 2 and Higher National School of Computer Science Algiers (Algeria)
  • - Tianjin University of Technology and Education (China)
  • - Singapore University of Social Sciences

In the Computer Science sector, awards went to:
  • - Guilin University of Electronic Technology (China)
  • - Federal University of Technology Minna (Nigeria)
  • - University of Bejaia and Higher National School of Computer Science SBA (Algeria)
  • - Cebu Institute of Technology - University (Philippines)

The programming competition crowned a team from Shenzhen Polytechnic University (China).

Special Awards to Encourage Diversity and Innovation


Highlighting contributions beyond technical excellence, special awards were also presented, such as the Women in Tech Award, received by all-female teams from Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Germany, and Kenya. The Green Development Award went to a team from Ghana, demonstrating the commitment to sustainability in technology solutions. Additionally, 18 outstanding educators were recognized with the Most Valuable Instructor Award, coming from a diverse set of countries including Egypt, China, Algeria, Bangladesh, Brazil, Indonesia, Iraq, Nigeria, Hungary, and Turkey.

Supporting a Revolution in Education


During the opening speech, Ritchie Peng, Director of ICT Strategy and Business Development at Huawei, emphasized the importance of learning through competition and inspiring innovation. He stated that the design of the competition themes has continuously evolved, aligning with Huawei’s vision for a Smart World by 2030. The competition is not just about showcasing ingenuity; it also encourages participants to master crucial skills in cloud computing, big data, and AI to contribute to social progress.

As the trend of digital transformation accelerates globally, the demand for talented professionals in fields such as AI, big data, and cybersecurity continues to rise. However, a talent shortage in these essential areas is increasingly evident. To tackle this challenge, the Huawei ICT Competition offers multiple categories, including practical, innovative, and programming tracks, alongside initiatives fostering partnerships between industry and academia and developing tailored curricula. Such efforts aim to equip students with in-demand skills, shaping the next generation of ICT professionals who will excel in an increasingly intelligent and digital world.

Furthermore, Huawei hosted the AI Accelerating Education Transformation Summit, where experts deliberated on the critical role AI plays in smart education. Huawei also unveiled its AI capabilities in the Huawei ICT Academy’s intelligent platform, simplifying usage for teachers and students and further pushing the agenda for digitalizing education.
