RiceSelect® Brand's 'Jars of Hope' Initiative Donates $120,000 to Combat Hunger

Empowering Communities with 'Jars of Hope'

In a remarkable show of commitment to combating hunger, Riviana Foods Inc., recognized as the leading rice manufacturer in America, has announced the successful completion of its second annual RiceSelect® 'Jars of Hope' initiative. This year, the campaign effectively raised $120,000 in both in-kind and monetary contributions, aimed at supporting families across California grappling with food insecurity.

Collaboration with California Association of Food Banks

Working in partnership with the California Association of Food Banks (CAFB), the 'Jars of Hope' initiative has proven to be a significant relief mechanism for countless families in need. During a recent event in Riverside, California, Riviana's RiceSelect Brand Manager, Megan Byerly, presented a generous donation to CAFB’s CEO, Stacia Levenfeld. This included over 11,300 jars of RiceSelect products, equivalent to nearly 20 full pallets, alongside a monetary contribution of $13,500.

Focus on Rural Assistance

The donations are intended for distribution throughout the CAFB network, with particular emphasis on rural families who often face greater challenges due to limited resources. Byerly expressed gratitude to everyone involved for helping the initiative grow during its second year. "We are proud of the positive impact on communities across California," she said. "Seeing our RiceSelect jars making a difference gives new meaning to our mission."

The Mechanics of Donation

From November 3rd to 30th, 2025, for every two RiceSelect jars purchased at participating retailers, one jar was donated back to the CAFB. Retail partners included familiar names such as Food4Less, Foods Co., Ralphs, Walmart, and newer participants like Albertsons, Raley's, and SaveMart. This innovative approach not only stimulated sales but also fostered community engagement in the fight against hunger.

Acknowledgments from Leadership

Yulanda Smith, Vice President of External Affairs at CFLB, expressed heartfelt thanks on behalf of thousands of Californians: "We greatly appreciate Riviana Foods for their indispensable support and the much-needed resources to nourish our neighbors in need. Their partnership is crucial in our ongoing mission to tackle hunger in California."
