Public Technologies Launches Mobility Training Project in Nishinoshima Town
Public Technologies, Inc., based in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, and led by CEO Yamato Aoki, has embarked on a significant initiative to advance tourist transportation in Nishinoshima Town, Shimane Prefecture. Collaborating with local authorities, the company is set to implement a
Mobility Coordinator Development Project in September 2025, utilizing the
Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's program aimed at resolving transportation voids.
Addressing Local Challenges
The issue of insufficient transportation options connecting ports and airports to accommodations and tourist attractions has severely impacted visitor experiences and tourism revenue in the area. Local lodging providers are struggling to find personnel to handle shuttle services, significantly challenging the maintenance of a welcoming environment. Additionally, the demand for secondary transportation spikes during the summer months, making it difficult for taxi services to retain enough drivers throughout the year, thus creating a cycle of staffing shortages during peak seasons and reduced operation in off-peak times.
Given these challenges, the newly launched initiative aims to establish a cooperative framework among local stakeholders, enabling them to share common understandings, systematically learn essential knowledge, and collaboratively seek effective solutions.
Unique Features of the Initiative
The program is characterized as a
practical training initiative that cultivates the ability to identify and implement specific solutions collaboratively among stakeholders. Through expert-led seminars, participants will engage in systematic knowledge acquisition about the current state of secondary tourist transport, innovative travel modes, and analytics of transport data.
Subsequent workshops will host around 30 participants, including local government officials, transportation businesses, tourism associations, and regional exchange coordinators, to thoroughly explore priorities, design operational models, allocate roles, and build consensus. This structured approach will ultimately lead participants to create an
Improvement Proposal and an
Annual Implementation Plan, paving the way for operational testing.
To ensure long-term success, Public Technologies will provide ongoing practical support and a comprehensive support system from planning to consensus building and operational backing. This structure aims to establish a sustainable, locally-driven transportation system, especially addressing the challenges associated with transport needs and staffing limitations linked to seasonal factors.
Project Schedule
The project consists of several key events:
- - Workshop 1: September 26, 2025
- - Workshop 2: October 17, 2025
- - Workshop 3: November 19, 2025
- - Workshop 4: December 12, 2025
Future Outlook
Public Technologies embraces the vision of
“Japanese Dynamism — Bringing Japan to Life from Local to Global” by maximizing the untapped potential of communities. The program's aim is to redesign public transport in Nishinoshima Town, making it more accessible and user-friendly for residents. Additionally, it intends to serve as a model case for establishing sustainable transportation infrastructure within the area, supported by digital technologies that bolster public transport systems nationwide, ensuring mobility reliability for everyone.
