ChangAn Automobile Unveils Strategic Plans for Global Expansion at Auto Shanghai 2025

ChangAn Automobile, a leader in intelligent low-carbon mobility technologies, recently revealed a bold new vision at Auto Shanghai 2025, taking place from April 23 to May 2 in the National Exhibition and Convention Center, Shanghai. Under the theme "Together for a Smarter World," the company announced three key strategic initiatives that aim to usher in a new era of modernization and innovation – the Shangri-La mission focused on new energy, the Dubhe plan targeting intelligence, and the Vast Ocean plan for global expansion.

The Shangri-La Mission

In its Shangri-La mission, ChangAn aims to enhance its product portfolio by launching a total of 45 new models globally over the next five years, with 37 of these being powered by new energy sources. Notably, 2025 will see the launch of 20 new models, including twelve electric vehicles such as the AVATR 06, DEEPAL S09, and the CHANG-AN Q07. Collaborating with the battery manufacturer CATL, ChangAn is developing critical electrolyte technologies and hastening the development of semiconductor batteries. A prototype of this innovation is expected to debut by the end of 2025, with installation tests slated for 2026 and mass production anticipated in 2027. Additionally, the introduction of a smart battery collision monitoring system and the Kirin 4C fast-charging battery marks significant advancements for the company.

The Dubhe Plan 2.0

The Dubhe plan envisions extensive investments of 20 billion yuan over the next five years aimed at developing advanced models with artificial intelligence and enhanced driver assistance features. A further 20 billion yuan will support growth in the area of urban air mobility, including flying cars. More than 50 intelligent features will be introduced through this initiative, with major upgrades to the TS intelligent drive systems, the TY cockpit, and the TH chassis. Five versions of the assisted driving system based on the TS intelligent drive will be launched to meet various customer needs, with the LiDAR PRO version entering mass production by the end of 2025. Furthermore, over the next decade, ChangAn plans to invest over 200 billion yuan into new automotive technologies, launch test flights for flying cars this year, and aims for humanoid robot production by 2028. Their NextLab facility in Shanghai will serve as the cornerstone for their global design innovations.

The Vast Ocean Plan

Under the Vast Ocean plan, ChangAn is set to invest over $15 billion globally by 2030, aiming to achieve annual international sales of 1.5 million vehicles while increasing its foreign workforce to 10,000. This new global strategy involves reconfiguring its market layout to a "6+2" arrangement, elevating five critical regions to align with China's strategic level, thus increasing the capacity of international markets from 30 million to 50 million units. Additionally, 11 KD projects will commence in nations including Kazakhstan and Egypt, substantially raising production capacity by 500,000 units. ChangAn plans to penetrate new markets such as Brazil, Algeria, Indonesia, Germany, and Australia, striving to fully establish a presence in the major global regions by 2026.

"Despite the strong headwinds and the long journey ahead, ChangAn Automobile will steadfastly forge forward," remarked Zhu Huarong, Chairman of ChangAn Automobile. "With our historical spirit of 'innovating through change and persevering through adversity,' our profound cultural legacy, unwavering strategy execution, a top-notch team, and robust research and development capabilities, we are confident that we can ride the waves, accelerate high-quality transformations, and fulfill our vision of building a world-class automotive brand. As a company dedicated to intelligent low-carbon mobility, ChangAn's product range includes passenger vehicles, pickups, and light commercial vehicles. They are driven by innovation and industrial modernization, striving to develop sustainable mobility while aiming to become a global leader in the industry.
