Luup Collaborates with Shibuya's Harajuku Gai-en Junior High School
Luup, a company based in Shinagawa, Tokyo, has teamed up with Harajuku Gai-en Junior High School in Shibuya Ward to contribute to its exploratory course titled "Shibuya Mirai Course". This course aimed at second-year students took place over four sessions from May to June 2025, focusing on the theme of "New Town Planning with Luup."
Background of the Collaboration
Luup has a clear mission: to create infrastructure that transforms urban spaces into convenient transit hubs. They offer sharing services for electric micro-mobility solutions, which encompass electric bicycles and kick scooters, as well as other small, one-person mobility devices. The goal is to establish reliable first and last-mile transit options, ensuring that all individuals can move freely.
Initiated in Shibuya in 2020, Luup has expanded its services across Japan, boasting over 13,500 docking stations nationwide, making it the leading provider of electric micro-mobility sharing in the country. With a strong local presence, Luup is dedicated to providing mobility solutions that cater to community needs.
Moreover, Luup has previously collaborated with various municipalities and organizations to promote safe driving practices, solve urban transport challenges, and contribute to local revitalization. By supporting the Shibuya Ward’s initiative for the "Shibuya Mirai Course," Luup aims to inspire proactive thinking among students regarding local issues.
In this educational program, student groups explored local challenges and brainstormed solutions utilizing electric micro-mobility, supported by Luup employees. They engaged in ideation sessions and presented their solutions on the final day, focusing on fostering inquiry skills, problem-solving capabilities, communication, and expression among participants.
Luup is committed to realizing a future where everyone can move freely, and plans to continue initiatives related to safe electric micro-mobility traffic rules and educational outreach. Additionally, they will actively work with local governments and schools to address the challenges of community development.
