Newark Restaurant Week 2026: A Culinary Fiesta During FIFA World Cup
From June 19 to 28, 2026, Newark will proudly present its much-anticipated Restaurant Week. This vibrant culinary event invites both residents and visitors to embark on a flavorful journey through the city’s diverse culinary landscape. Coinciding with the FIFA World Cup 2026™ festivities, this year's Restaurant Week promises to be particularly special, showcasing the rich tapestry of cultures that Newark has to offer.
A true celebration of food, Newark Restaurant Week will feature a mix of established local favorites and innovative newcomers, representing cuisines that reflect the city’s multicultural fabric. Guests will have the opportunity to indulge in delightful dishes inspired by Portuguese, African, Brazilian, Caribbean, Spanish, and South American cultures—all anchor points of Newark's identity as one of America's most authentic cities.
This year's festivities are part of a larger initiative known as the "Kick It In Newark" campaign, designed to not only harness the excitement around the FIFA World Cup but also to promote the city’s unique dining experiences. Mayor Ras J. Baraka emphasized, "Newark's food scene tells the story of our people and the many cultures that make this city special," highlighting the significance of this event as an opportunity to welcome global tourists and celebrate Newark's culinary heritage.
The excitement for the Restaurant Week follows the successful symposium, "Savor Newark 2026: The Culinary Cup – United at the Table," held on May 16, where chefs, restaurateurs, and cultural leaders gathered to honor the immigrant communities that have helped shape Newark's culinary landscape.
As Newark prepares to become a hub for soccer fans during the World Cup, it stands just a stone's throw away from MetLife Stadium, offering an array of dining options and entertainment. For convenience, visitors can access the free "Kick it in Newark" Mobile Pass, which provides curated trails, local business insights, and themed itineraries to help guests explore the city throughout the summer.
Among the specially featured trails will be the "Newark Night Out," which highlights nightlife and dining spots, and the "Black Owned Business Crawl," showcasing local entrepreneurial talents. Additional themed trails focus on areas such as Newark's South Ward, West Ward, and Ironbound, celebrating the city’s art, beauty, and cultural hotspots.
Ashley Mays, Chief Marketing Officer of Newark Alliance and President of Newark Happening stated, "This is an opportunity for people from all over the world to discover Newark through its food, culture, people, and small businesses." The campaign aims to draw people to explore Newark beyond just the sporting events, diving into the unique energy and authenticity that defines the city’s character.
During Newark Restaurant Week, participating restaurants will present exclusive menus and featured dishes that embody the city’s global influences and long-standing culinary traditions. Organizers anticipate that this initiative will not only enhance visibility for Newark's restaurant community but also spark significant economic activity during one of the most pivotal tourism periods in the region's history.
