The Sustainable Celebration: Present Tree
In a remarkable initiative, the
Present Tree project, run by the certified NPO
Environmental Relations Institute located in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has introduced a sustainable way to celebrate special occasions. Instead of traditional celebration flowers, this unique program encourages people to plant trees as a gift, fostering a beautiful forest environment for future generations. This year marks the
20th anniversary of Present Tree, and the program is stepping up to offer a
sustainable way of celebration that not only honors individual milestones but also contributes positively to the planet.
A Greener Way to Celebrate
The core idea of Present Tree is simple yet impactful: plant trees in deforested areas or disaster-affected forests, allowing city dwellers to become caretakers of these trees. As a result, they cultivate a connection with their trees and the local community while revitalizing the surrounding forest and ecosystem. This initiative has already seen participation from various companies, with Salesforce Japan being one notable example that opted to make donations for forest restoration instead of accepting traditional orchid gift flowers for events like opening new offices or welcoming new executives.
Initiated today, Present Tree is collecting donations to commemorate its 20th year, inviting people to honor their friends and family by giving back to our precious forests.
