TriPost and Invesco Partner for Strategic Investment in Arizona Student Housing

TriPost and Invesco Join Forces for Strategic Investment in Tempe, Arizona

On March 31, 2025, TriPost Capital Partners, LLC, a New York-based real estate private equity firm, announced a strategic partnership with Invesco Real Estate Income Trust Inc. (INREIT) to acquire a minority equity stake in a prime Class-A student housing community, known as The Carmin, located in Tempe, Arizona. This initiative forms part of TriPost's evolving Asset Solutions strategy and marks an essential step in their commitment to enhancing the student living experience near major university campuses.

The Carmin, situated at 1000 East Apache Boulevard, features 384 units and can accommodate up to 833 students. The complex is ideally positioned just steps from Arizona State University (ASU), catering to the growing demand for high-quality, near-campus housing. This upscale property offers a blend of lifestyle amenities, including designer-inspired interiors, private bedrooms and bathrooms, a fitness center with a sauna, a rooftop pool, and communal study areas along with in-unit laundry facilities and on-site retail options.

Todd Silverman, the Managing Partner and Co-Founder of TriPost, highlighted the sustained demand for Class-A student housing facilities at significant universities across the country. He remarked, "With the support of two like-minded, experienced partners, we believe The Carmin is poised to continue delivering quality services to ASU students." This acquisition signifies TriPost's approach of leveraging partnerships with established firms in the real estate sector to drive value.

The agreement underscores TriPost's Asset Solutions strategy, which seeks out illiquid ownership positions from existing real estate proprietors in the secondary market. Over its history, TriPost has built a solid track record of providing capital solutions and working collaboratively with operational partners in various market conditions. The firm's focus spans a diverse spectrum of sectors—including multifamily, affordable housing, manufactured housing, medical offices, and, crucially, student housing.

TriPost has a significant portfolio, managing over $1 billion in assets and having invested in more than 650 properties across 31 states, focusing on over 60 investment Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) and eight asset categories.

Chase Bolding, President and Lead Portfolio Manager at Invesco, stated, "Student housing is an attractive acyclical sector that can offer portfolio diversification and an ability to grow cash flows. Our firm’s belief in the importance of the sector continues to strengthen as we explore new investments across the capital structure."

The collaboration with INREIT is particularly relevant as it aligns with TriPost's goal to implement targeted capital solutions supporting real estate operations. By acquiring minority stakes in high-potential assets, TriPost strives to create tailored partnership structures, such as partner buyouts and asset recapitalizations, fortifying its role as a capital solutions provider.

This collaboration aims to enhance the living conditions for students while ensuring profitability and sustainability in real estate operations. With a growing population of students seeking accommodations near college campuses, such as those at ASU, the demand for high-quality properties remains strong.

As educational institutions recover from the impacts of the pandemic, the demand for quality student accommodations continues to be robust. The partnership between TriPost and Invesco Real Estate reflects a strategic move that is expected to bolster value for both investors and the communities they serve.

TriPost Capital Partners, founded in 2014, is dedicated to providing tailored capital solutions across distinct strategies that benefit both operators and developers. This strategy enables them to foster growth and resilience in various circumstances, enhancing investment attractiveness while promoting community development.

The collaboration not only stands to improve the living conditions for ASU students but also positions TriPost and Invesco at the forefront of strategic real estate investments in a thriving sector. It sets the stage for future ventures that can adaptively answer the evolving needs of students in the university environment, offering a well-rounded living experience that truly values quality and accessibility.
