Kingsley Manor's Annual Fashion Show

On April 24, 2025, Kingsley Manor Retirement Community in Los Angeles will host its highly anticipated second annual fashion show, titled "A Black Tie Affair." This exciting event, taking place from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, will highlight the vibrant personalities and unique styles of ten residents aged 72 to 105.

The fashion show represents a celebration of individuality and empowerment, a notion initiated by Michael Essex, the life enrichment director at Kingsley Manor. Essex started this showcase in 2024 to provide residents an opportunity that many often lack: the chance to express themselves through fashion. He states, "We designed this event to celebrate confidence and give our residents a transformative experience."

Pre-Event Preparations

Before stepping onto the runway, participants will be guided by a professional runway coach with a notable background, including experience working alongside Tyra Banks. Residents will receive a complete makeover, courtesy of students from the nearby Fashion Institute, supported by professional hair and makeup artists. Each model will present three looks on the runway:
1. An outfit from their own wardrobe, showcasing their personal style;
2. A look crafted in collaboration with two local boutiques that graciously volunteered their time and resources;
3. A
