Think Transcend and ACSA Launch the Transcendent Leader Institute
In an exciting development for educational leadership in California, Think Transcend, a division of Think Education, in collaboration with the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), has launched the Transcendent Leader Institute. This pioneering program is set to begin its inaugural cohort in June 2026, providing a comprehensive 10-month leadership experience tailored for both current and aspiring superintendents and system leaders.
The Transcendent Leader Institute is a forward-thinking initiative that invests in the future of educational leadership, focusing on cultivating not just technical expertise but also deep personal, relational, and soul-centered capacities necessary for navigating the complexities of modern education. The institute aims to foster a supportive environment where leaders can enhance their skills while remaining centered on the vital goal of student success, emphasizing access to thriving schools, positive relationships, and transformative opportunities.
Dr. Paul Gothold, President and Founder of Think Transcend, emphasized that this partnership represents a mutual dedication to nurturing leaders capable of fostering thriving conditions for students, staff, and communities amid ongoing challenges in the educational landscape. He stated, “At a time when the demands on educational leaders have never been greater, this partnership reflects a shared commitment to developing leaders who can create conditions for students, staff, and communities to thrive – even amid complexity.”
Core Competencies and Immersive Learning
The institute is designed around a robust leadership framework comprising 12 essential competencies for effective superintendency. Participants will engage in a variety of immersive learning experiences, including in-person sessions, ongoing virtual learning opportunities, personalized coaching, and collaborative activities. The design's focus is on practical application, personal growth, and the development of a strong leadership community dedicated to advancing excellence, equity, and student-centered leadership.
Throughout the program, participants will delve into crucial topics such as systems leadership, data-driven decision-making, socially conscious leadership, and the importance of empowering and nurturing individuals within educational environments. The experience culminates in a capstone project, allowing leaders to apply their insights and skills to real-world circumstances in their districts or organizations, ultimately aiming to enhance student outcomes and opportunities.
A New Era of Leadership Development
Dr. Edgar Zazueta, Executive Director of ACSA, shared insights into the evolution of leadership development, remarking, “This collaboration reflects our belief that leadership development must evolve to meet the realities of today's educational landscape. This Institute creates space for deep reflection and growth, equipping leaders to strengthen systems, empower people, and drive meaningful and lasting change that positively impacts students and communities.”
Participants will also join the Transcendent Leader Fellowship, establishing a lifelong network dedicated to ongoing growth, connection, and collective impact in support of California’s students and communities.
Applications and Philanthropic Support
The application process for the inaugural cohort, beginning June 2026, is now open. Given the personalized nature of the program, spaces are limited to ensure impactful experiences. To promote inclusivity and accessibility for school leaders from diverse backgrounds, Think Transcend is actively seeking philanthropic sponsorships for candidates wishing to participate in this groundbreaking initiative.
