The fighting stance against the DOE's regulation was crucial as its implementation would have pushed consumers towards less efficient storage tanks, leading to a $665 increase per unit in consumer costs. Moreover, with installation expenses reaching up to $1,000, the total burden on American families, especially those with lower incomes and seniors, could have amounted to an additional $235 million.
