HackTech 2025: Innovating to Combat Wildfires

The 4th annual HackTech Hackathon will take place on November 15-16, 2025, at The Warehouse by IT Quarter in Limassol, Cyprus. Organized by AdTech Holding, a leader in digital advertising and marketing technology, this year’s event focuses on a pressing challenge: the threat of wildfires. Supported by the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy of Cyprus, alongside TechIsland and other vital partners, HackTech 2025 aims to harness technology to create innovative solutions tackling wildfires directly.

As the largest open hackathon in Cyprus, HackTech 2025 invites up to 20 teams to participate in a 48-hour coding marathon. With free entry for developers, designers, product managers, and IT professionals, this competition encourages collaboration and creativity. Participants will be tasked with developing practical IT solutions in three critical areas:
1. Prevention Tools: Tools focused on forecasting, raising awareness, and reducing wildfire risks.
2. Real-time Response Solutions: Enhancements to emergency coordination during active wildfire incidents.
3. Recovery Initiatives: Strategies to support affected communities and restore damaged ecosystems.

This year’s theme highlights the urgent need for effective technology-driven responses to natural disasters, making the competition timely and impactful. Mentors, investors, and government representatives will be available to support the teams throughout the event.

According to Alex Vasekin, CEO of AdTech Holding, “HackTech 2025 is more than just a coding competition—it's a chance to use technology for good. Cyprus's tech ecosystem is growing fast, and we believe that ideas coming from enthusiasts and professionals across different companies can truly help tackle real challenges like wildfires.” The hackathon culminates in a DemoFest, allowing participants to showcase their innovations to potential investors and accelerators, providing them with opportunities to turn prototypes into real ventures.

A significant incentive for participants is the prize pool of €30,000 that will be awarded to the top three teams:
  • - 1st Place: €15,000
  • - 2nd Place: €10,000
  • - 3rd Place: €5,000

Additionally, a People's Choice Award will recognize a team nominated by attendees. This funding is intended to inspire new ideas and foster further technological advancement within the industry.

Teams can register until October 31, 2025, via the official website, thehacktech.com. The event promises to be a showcase of innovative ideas and solutions aimed at combating wildfires, a topic of increasing importance globally.

HackTech 2025 is not merely an event; it's a movement towards leveraging technology as a force for good. By bringing together minds eager to innovate and address significant issues like wildfires, this hackathon represents a pivotal moment in Cyprus’s tech landscape. The engagement of participants and stakeholders reflects a strong commitment to making a meaningful difference in their communities and beyond.
