2. Inspection and Acceptance: Upon arrival at the Sozo SEC facility, several sourcing routes provide used PV panels, which are subject to inspection to determine their potential for reuse.
3. Testing Phase: The panels deemed reusable are installed on-site at the Sozo SEC facility for power generation testing. The generated electricity will be used for local consumption and potential sales, with prospects of integration within group companies.
4. Recycling Non-Reusable Panels: Panels that fail inspection will undergo recycling processes at Sozo SEC to recover valuable metals such as silver and copper.

Dowa has joined hands with Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd., which provided the expo's shuttle terminal PV panels, and UPDATER Co., Ltd., assisting in development and project management. Furthermore, partnerships with local companies in Fukushima enhance the project’s sourcing capabilities and facilitate its implementation.

The primary goal is to compare the data secured from these reused PV panels against that of new panels to validate their practicality. This comparison will include assessing variations based on manufacturing age and type, aiding in the optimization of reuse processes.

The introduction of the feed-in tariff (FIT) system in 2012 has propelled the adoption of renewable energy sources like solar power. Although the use of these technologies is expected to heighten, a challenge lies ahead as the lifespan of PV panels concludes in the 2030s, leading to increased waste. Currently, a significant portion of these panels is exported overseas, posing significant waste management issues.

Japan faces growing societal pressure to develop effective reuse and recycling systems domestically, accounting for the valuable metals and ensuring the proper disposal of hazardous materials found in solar panels.
