Huawei Launches Next-Gen AI-Powered Green Solutions for Gigawatt Operators

Huawei Unveils Cutting-Edge Green Installations Powered by AI

At the recent MWC Barcelona 2026, Bob He, the Vice President of Huawei Digital Power, introduced the company’s new generation of green installations that utilize AI and gigawatt-level AIDC (AI Data Center) solutions. These innovations are designed to assist operators in building networks aimed at achieving net-zero emissions while providing a robust foundation for the growth of computational power necessary in the era of the Internet of Things. This transformation is pivotal in expediting the smart, low-emission revolution.

As the intelligent world rapidly advances, the surge in AI development leads to increased network traffic, presenting significant challenges to the power infrastructure of base stations. Huawei’s green AI installations are the first to offer intelligent comprehensive synergy, enhancing network resilience while reducing operational energy costs. This fusion allows operators’ energy storage resources to transform into new revenue streams, exemplifying Huawei’s commitment to technological innovation.

The installation’s iBackup feature effectively doubles power backup time, boosting station energy availability to an impressive 99.9%. For instance, in Kuwait, the backup time has been extended from three to six hours, ensuring continuous service delivery even amid energy supply interruptions. Moreover, through smart algorithms that integrate weather forecasts, energy production data, and load management, these installations facilitate coordinated management of photovoltaic systems, energy storage, and generators. In southern Africa alone, this solution has helped clients reduce fuel consumption by 75%, resulting in savings exceeding $10,000, along with an annual reduction in CO2 emissions by 18 tons per installation.

Transitioning from mere cost reduction to generating revenue, the virtual power plant solution is adaptable across various situations and enables operators to engage their energy storage resources in the electricity market, unlocking additional revenue opportunities. In Northern Europe, this approach facilitated an increase in annual revenue by over 2,000 euros per installation, showcasing its viability in diverse market conditions.

Advancements in AI Data Center Solutions

The emerging era of intelligent solutions is witnessing a sharp increase in demand for computational power, catalyzing the development of AI data centers (AIDC). Alongside this demand, challenges arise related to reliability, energy consumption, project timeliness, and seamless infrastructure evolution. Huawei's data center facilities are redefining four critical areas—power, cooling, energy storage, and operation—to deliver a highly reliable, energy-efficient, rapid-deployment, and fully compatible AIDC solution, aimed at maximizing tokens per watt to fuel the development of the AI era.

The comprehensive AIDC power solution leverages innovations spanning the entire power chain—from the energy grid to integrated circuits—paired with standardized power module designs. This results in Huawei’s high-density, reliable PowerPOD solution that allows for swift deployment in AIDC environments. Likewise, Huawei has optimized cooling systems through heat dissipation innovations, from internal circuitry to the external environment, creating an IT POD that efficiently manages cooling requirements for AI data centers.

AI for Intelligent Data Center Operations

Artificial intelligence is instrumental in enhancing both the safety and energy efficiency of AIDC throughout its lifecycle. Predictive maintenance powered by AI enables organizations to transition from reactive to proactive responses to failures, significantly improving operational uptime. Additionally, smart coordination and optimization of cooling and power systems help to further minimize energy consumption, aligning with global sustainability goals.

Bob He emphasized that Huawei aims to leverage its technological convergence capabilities in energy technologies, wireless communication, and service models, to support operators in building a more flexible, reliable, and eco-friendly ICT power infrastructure. This strategic approach not only accelerates the intelligent transformation in the AI era but also contributes to sustainable business success in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
