New China-Africa Business Center Opens in Nansha, Guangzhou
On October 14, 2025, a significant milestone for economic collaboration was achieved with the inauguration of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Center in the Nansha district of Guangzhou. This facility marks a pioneering step towards enhancing economic relationships between China and Africa, especially within the Greater Bay Area Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao.
The new international business center was established through a collaboration between the Nansha district government and the China-Africa Economic and Trade Friendship Development Foundation. It is designed to foster business interactions by providing modern office spaces and venues for commercial and cultural exchange, along with critical services such as legal assistance and supply chain coordination.
Zhang Yi, the foundation's president, highlighted the Greater Bay Area as a crucial link for strengthening ties between the two regions. He emphasized the area's competitive industries, logistics advantages, and overall business environment, expressing a commitment to enhance exchanges with African nations, making the new center a cornerstone of China-Africa cooperation.
A notable event during the grand opening was the establishment of the China-Madagascar Economic and Trade Cooperation Center, which has become the first African institution to operate within this new platform. Madagascar's ambassador to China, Jean Louis Robinson, remarked on China's pivotal role in Madagascar's development and viewed the centre launch as an essential step in translating collaborative aspirations into actionable outcomes.
