Hydron Energy Secures Funding from NGIF Accelerator



Hydron Energy Inc. has recently announced a significant stride in renewable energy technology by acquiring funding from NGIF Accelerator. This funding aims to back the demonstration of its innovative INTRUPTor™ solution, targeted at converting landfill biogas into renewable natural gas (RNG) at a more cost-effective rate.

The INTRUPTor™ technology is set to be showcased at the Bailey Landfill located in Chilliwack, British Columbia, in collaboration with the local utility company, FortisBC, and the City of Chilliwack. This partnership emphasizes the vital role of collaboration in advancing sustainable energy solutions.

Soheil Khiavi, the CEO of Hydron Energy, highlighted the importance of this project, stating that it is a key step toward illustrating the system's capability to expeditiously eliminate nitrogen and carbon dioxide while upgrading biogas in a single stage, all at considerably lower costs compared to traditional methods. He expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from NGIF Accelerator, noting that this marks their second funded project, reinforcing their commitment to catalyzing the clean energy transition via innovative technology.

The INTRUPTor™ represents a groundbreaking advancement in gas separation and upgrading technologies. It employs an innovative biomimicry-based metal organic framework (MOF) which enhances the quality of raw biogas to pipeline-standard RNG. Operating under standard ambient conditions, the INTRUPTor™ simplifies the design and manufacturing process of upgrade plants significantly. As a result, it can achieve cost reductions of up to 50% while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 80% compared to conventional, commercially available technologies.

The technology has already been effectively implemented in various settings, including anaerobic digesters, wastewater treatment facilities, and landfills, demonstrating its versatility and reliability in producing RNG. With this breakthrough, Hydron Energy is positioned to not only reduce harmful emissions but also stimulate job creation across Canada, further reinforcing the nation's commitment to clean energy solutions.

The funding from NGIF Accelerator reflects a broader industry trend focused on encouraging and supporting the development of new technologies designed to enhance renewable energy production.
