Celebrating Shohei Ohtani's Legacy at the Great Golden Exhibition

The much-anticipated Great Golden Exhibition is set to take place at Shizuoka Isetan from August 19 to August 24, 2026. This unique showcase is organized by SGC Co., Ltd., a leader in the production and sale of gold products, as well as precious metal buying services.

Among the remarkable highlights will be life-sized golden statues of MLB star Shohei Ohtani, featuring both his batting and pitching personas. These statues, known as 'Golden Batter Shohei Ohtani' and 'Golden Pitcher Shohei Ohtani,' represent a rare opportunity for fans and collectors alike to view both iconic representations together.

Created over the span of roughly two years, the statues are a testament to SGC's craftsmanship and Ohtani's celebrated career. The batter statue incorporates 1,550 sheets of gold leaf and stands at approximately 1.9 meters tall (about 2.4 meters from the base to the end of the bat), while the pitcher statue uses 1,450 sheets of gold leaf and stands at about 1.7 meters. Both statues reflect the excellence achieved by Ohtani, particularly in 2024 when he set records with 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases, each tagged at a starting price of 50 million yen (with tax, 55 million yen). In total, the pair has an estimated price of 100 million yen (including tax, 110 million yen).

Introducing the Shohei Ohtani Gold Collection

The exhibition will also unveil the 'Shohei Ohtani Gold Collection,' which includes a 100g pure gold medal featuring two designs (batter and pitcher). The anticipated sales price for each medal is 9,614,000 yen. Additionally, pure gold action figures will be available, showcasing Ohtani in three versions: 'K24 Batter Shohei Ohtani,' 'K24 Pitcher Shohei Ohtani,' and 'K24 Two-Way Shohei Ohtani,' offered in 1/10 or 1/20 scales with prices starting from 6,820,000 yen for the smaller models and reaching up to 47,080,000 yen for the larger two-way figure.

A Nod to Iconic Anime: Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star

In a thrilling addition, the exhibition will feature a pure gold ornament of Kenshiro from the legendary manga series Fist of the North Star. This ornament, representing the iconic character known for his strength and stoic demeanor, is not only a collector's dream but embodies the blend of culture and craftsmanship. Priced at 5,368,000 yen, this approximately 11-cm tall piece underlines the timeless appeal of the character, especially with the new anime series that began airing in April.

A Showcase of Over 1,000 Gold Items

With the retail price of gold remaining high in Japan, the Great Golden Exhibition promises to feature over 1,000 exquisite gold items. Visitors will be treated to a lavish display of gold crafts, from traditional Buddhist instruments to elegant household items, including auspicious ornaments and unique collectibles.
