USPS Operation Santa Invites Letters From Children Nationwide for 2025

USPS Operation Santa 2025: A Tradition of Holiday Giving

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has officially launched the 2025 season of Operation Santa, an enchanting program that invites children and families across the United States to send their heartfelt letters to Santa Claus. This time-honored initiative, now in its 113th year, serves as a bridge connecting eager letter writers with generous individuals and organizations committed to making holiday wishes come true.

Starting today, families are encouraged to follow the program's guidelines to send their letters, which can be found at USPSOperationSanta.com. It’s essential for letters to be postmarked by December 6 to qualify for selection and fulfillment. Notably, this year, participants have the unique opportunity to sponsor letters not just for individual kids but for entire families, allowing them to fulfill wishes collectively.

Sheila Holman, Vice President of Marketing at USPS, expressed the importance of the program, stating, "For over a century, USPS Operation Santa has united communities to spread holiday cheer. Each year, we receive far more letters than we have sponsors, and this year we're encouraging families to 'adopt' multiple letters, enabling complete families to receive gifts at once."

In a bid to facilitate the process even further, USPS has enhanced the online gift catalog for Operation Santa, which debuted last year to improve the fulfillment experience. This year’s catalog boasts a significantly expanded selection with thousands of gift items available. When the letter adoption period opens on November 17, sponsors will enjoy the convenience of purchasing and sending gifts directly from the online catalog.

It’s noteworthy that the U.S. Postal Service is an independent federal entity, mandated to operate without taxing Americans, relying instead on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations. Delivering affordable, reliable, and secure mail and packages to nearly 169 million addresses, USPS operates six to seven days a week, overseen by a bipartisan Board of Governors. Additionally, the Postal Service is in the midst of a ten-year transformation plan called "Delivering for America," aimed at modernizing the postal network and ensuring long-term financial sustainability.

With this special initiative, the USPS not only aims to fulfill wishes during the holiday season but also strives to strengthen community bonds through the spirit of giving. As the holiday season approaches, there’s no better way to share joy and kindness than by participating in Operation Santa, ensuring that every child experiences the magic of the holidays.
