ActiMethod Hoshigaoka School Opening: Innovative English Learning Begins!

New School Opening for Innovative English Learning

In October 2025, the ActiMethod Hoshigaoka School will make its grand debut! Developed by i GO Co., Ltd., this revolutionary English learning method combines typing with English education to provide a dynamic learning environment. The ActiMethod has rapidly expanded across the nation, with over 90 schools established as of April 2025, and plans for further openings in various locations are underway.

Changes in English Education

It's been over three years since English became an official subject for elementary schools, leading to a nationwide establishment of English education aimed at elementary students. The curriculum underwent significant revisions from the 2020 academic year for elementary schools and the 2021 academic year for middle schools, now incorporating a total of 70 hours of English classes each year for fifth and sixth graders. These classes focus on developing the four essential skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, making English instruction an integral and graded part of the education system.

Today’s curriculum promotes continuity into middle school, where the goal is to cultivate foundational communication skills. This means the level and complexity of English education for elementary students has risen dramatically. Additionally, foreign language activities (English) now commence from the third and fourth grades, thereby introducing younger learners to language acquisition earlier than before.

By middle school, students are expected to grasp between 1,600 to 1,800 English words, a significant increase from the previous 1,200-word benchmark. Classes are designed to be conducted entirely in English, alongside the introduction of programming as a mandatory subject. As these educational reforms finalize, they will culminate in new university entrance exams aligned with this modern curriculum by the 2024 academic year (conducted in January 2025).

Why Choose ActiMethod for Your English Learning?

The ActiMethod’s strength lies in its ability to allow students to rapidly input a large volume of English vocabulary in a short time through typing. Unlike traditional English writing practices, all writing exercises are conducted using a keyboard. This means that students gain familiarity with spelling and pronunciation through auditory prompts while typing, making their learning both efficient and effective. Research has shown that students can type 5 to 10 times faster than they can write with a pencil after gaining comfort with the method.

Voices from Students and Parents

[6th Grader]: It's exciting to understand English in movies!
Learning new English words one after another is incredibly fun. I've become able to translate Japanese into English naturally, and now, when I watch movies, I can roughly understand what the characters are saying.

[Parents of Kindergartener, 3rd Grader, and 6th Grader]: Their English skills have improved enough to win awards at national competitions! We were recommended this school that teaches both English and typing. My child was extremely eager after attending the trial session. They had never used a computer before, but the fun nature of the lessons by the teachers made them fall in love with English. Currently, both siblings are enrolled, and it’s astonishing how much their English ability has grown, with the older sibling coming in 2nd and the younger sibling achieving 3rd place in a national vocabulary competition!
