Experience Cultural Workshops Celebrating Japan's Seasons at Keio Plaza Hotel

Embrace the Beauty of Japanese Culture at Keio Plaza Hotel

With fall fast approaching, Keio Plaza Hotel is excited to announce its ongoing cultural workshops, specifically themed around traditional Japanese holidays and art forms.
Located in the heart of Tokyo, Keio Plaza Hotel is a sanctuary for both international tourists and business travelers, hosting around 80-90% inbound guests, aimed at enriching their stay. The hotel's cultural initiative, which started in July 2025, focuses on providing enriching experiences through hands-on sessions guided by Japanese artists and cultural experts.
Each month, the workshop features a unique theme that delves into Japanese traditions and seasonal celebrations, allowing participants to create their own art pieces inspired by Japan's rich culture. Guest feedback highlights the workshops' accessibility, and many international guests have enjoyed creating souvenir gifts and personal keepsakes, often expressing their delight in the experience.
Upcoming Workshops

The following are upcoming workshops scheduled from September to December 2026:

  • - September: "Tsukimi (Moon Viewing)" Arrangement Workshop (Sept 24-25)
Participants will create flower arrangements using autumn foliage and even craft traditional lunar rice dumplings from paper clay. Together, these elements will form a lovely scene commemorating the annual moon-viewing festival, a cherished tradition in Japanese culture dating back to the Heian period.

  • - October: "Nishikiku no Sora" (Colors of Autumn) Workshop (Oct 23-24)
Explore pastel rendering techniques inspired by the vibrant colors seen in the evening skies of autumn. This session encourages students to blend and layer colors to capture the transitioning hues of twilight into night.

  • - November: "Shichi-Go-San" Kanzashi Making Workshop (Nov 22-23)
Participants will learn the traditional technique of tsumami zaiku, creating kanzashi hair ornaments to celebrate the Shichi-Go-San festival, an important event in Japan marking children's growth at ages three, five and seven.

  • - December: "Tōji" (Winter Solstice) Finger Knitting Workshop (Dec 14-15)
This workshop will teach participants the art of finger-knitting for crafting warm accessories to embrace the cold of winter, with a focus on traditional practices designed to keep warm during the long nights of the winter solstice.

Each workshop runs for several hours, typically from 10:00 to 16:00, allowing guests plenty of flexibility to participate at their convenience. Reservations are not required; however, a maximum attendee cap applies.
Special Offer: Hotel guests receive a 50% discount on workshop fees, enhancing accessibility for those staying on-site. All necessary materials are provided, eliminating the burden of preparation for participants.
Additionally, the workshops aim to connect guests with Japan's artistic spirit—highlighting the delicate balance of tradition and modernity.
