Plenus to Host 'Rice Workshop' on January 24, 2026

Since 2019, Plenus has introduced the 'Rice Workshop' as part of its commitment to preserving and passing down the appreciation of Japanese rice culture to the next generation. The workshop has received raving reviews for offering an educational yet enjoyable experience centered around rice. Scheduled for January 24, 2026, at the Plenus Kayabacho Office in Nihonbashi, this workshop promises a fascinating culinary journey.
Event Highlights
This workshop will feature renowned agricultural journalist “Tani Riri” as the lead educator. Participants will explore the historical and cultural significance of rice in Japan, encouraging reflections on the contemporary relevance of rice consumption. Attendees will have the opportunity to taste and compare
six different rice varieties—a special addition, since they typically offer four—allowing individuals to delve into the unique textures, aromas, and appearances of each type. By presenting a diverse range of rice, attendees can discover their personal favorites and gain valuable insights for their future selections.
About Tani Riri
Tani Riri is an accomplished agricultural journalist who is certified as a rice sommelier by the Japan Rice Cooker Association. Known for her media engagements on TV and in newspapers, she has significant experience in conducting rice workshops at various events organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Additionally, she is pursuing her Ph.D. at Tokyo University of Agriculture and holds a degree from Keio University. Her published works include "Learning About Rice Cultivation SDGs from the Experts" and "Adult's Rice Ball Study Notebooks".

Targeted for students from 5th grade and up, this engaging workshop is designed for adults as well. While children in grades 5 and 6 can participate, they must be accompanied by an adult.
