Global Fundraising Initiative Launched by NAVC for Animals Affected by Southern California Wildfires
In a heartfelt response to the tragic wildfires that have severely impacted many animals in Southern California, the North American Veterinary Community (NAVC) has officially launched a global fundraising campaign. This initiative aims to rally veterinary professionals from across the globe to support the Pasadena Humane Wildfire Relief Fund, which provides essential aid to animals suffering from the devastation caused by the fires.
The fundraising drive, scheduled to take place during the prestigious Veterinary Meeting & Expo (VMX) from January 25 to 29, 2025, is expected to gather nearly 30,000 veterinary professionals from over 82 countries at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. As part of this initiative, NAVC COE Gene O’Neill expressed the urgency and significance of the situation, stating, "So many animals in Southern California have been impacted by catastrophic fires and are in immediate need of homes and medical care. The veterinary community understands how urgent these needs are and is looking for ways to contribute and help now."
The NAVC has pledged to match donations made through this campaign up to $25,000, ensuring that every dollar contributed by participants will have double the impact. Participants can donate through the NAVC’s online SHOP NAVC platform or at designated donation bins set up in the VMX registration booths. As a token of appreciation, individuals donating on-site will receive a special One Love sticker.
This campaign symbolizes a unified front from veterinary professionals to support their colleagues and the animals in dire need. With shared compassion and dedication, this initiative aims to multiply the support that can be provided to the affected animals and their families.
Established in 1982, the NAVC has continually made strides in enhancing veterinary care through education and community support. As the world's leading provider of veterinary continuing education, NAVC has developed significant resources, tools, and services to advance the profession further. Their mission extends beyond education; it encompasses a commitment to animal welfare and veterinary advocacy.
