Leqembi® Revenue Hits 32.2 Billion Yen in Q3 2026, Boosting BioArctic's Royalties

Leqembi® Sales Show Remarkable Growth in Q3 2026

BioArctic AB’s partner, Eisai, has announced that Leqembi® generated an impressive 32.2 billion yen in global sales during the third quarter of 2026. This substantial revenue marks a significant leap in success for the innovative Alzheimer's treatment, translating to a royalty for BioArctic amounting to SEK 203.8 million. This figure represents an astonishing increase of approximately 74% compared to the royalties recorded during the same period in 2025.

Leqembi®, a humanized IgG1 monoclonal antibody, targets both soluble and insoluble forms of amyloid-beta. Approved in 53 countries and currently undergoing regulatory review in 6 more nations, it has become a cornerstone in Alzheimer’s treatment strategies. The approval process has led to various modes of dosing, with options for both intravenous and subcutaneous methods, tailored to patient needs.

The upcoming report from BioArctic on the third quarter results, set for publication on November 25, 2026, aims to provide further insights into the company’s evolving landscape and its successful partnership with Eisai which began in 2005. Central to this partnership was the Development and Commercialization agreement established in 2007 for lecanemab, which has paved the way for the advancement of Alzheimer’s treatment.

Eisai has been tasked with the clinical development and commercialization of Leqembi®, while BioArctic retains rights to market the drug in the Nordic region. Notably, BioArctic incurs no development costs for Leqembi and stands to benefit significantly from sales milestones and ongoing royalties.

Currently, Eisai is conducting a Phase 3 clinical study, AHEAD 3-45, focusing on individuals demonstrating preclinical Alzheimer's characteristics. This study has been fully enrolled as of October 2024 and exemplifies the dedication of both companies to addressing the challenges posed by Alzheimer’s disease. In addition, Eisai is collaborating with Biogen under a joint venture that further enhances the development of Leqembi and its market reach.

BioArctic is committed to innovating Alzheimer's treatment options, and with Leqembi® now recognized as the first drug to effectively slow the disease's progression, this partnership is seen as a transformative step forward. The company is also exploring treatments for other neurodegenerative disorders like Parkinson's disease and ALS, showcasing a broad portfolio aimed at improving patient outcomes.

As BioArctic thrives on the success of Leqembi, both investors and stakeholders are keenly interested in the developments leading up to the forthcoming quarterly report. The increase in royalty revenues signals a robust future for BioArctic and its ongoing commitment to pioneering advancements in neurodegenerative disease therapies. The excitement surrounding Leqembi's performance reflects broader industry trends toward more effective treatments for Alzheimer’s, as the need for successful interventions continues to grow.

In summary, Leqembi® has not only achieved impressive sales figures for the third quarter of 2026 but has also signified an overall boost in BioArctic’s financial health and positioning within the pharmaceutical landscape. As more research surfaces and treatments evolve, the ongoing collaboration between BioArctic and Eisai will likely yield further advancements in the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, benefiting countless individuals and families afflicted by this condition.
