Wako's Exceptional Premier Series of Cakes

Wako, a renowned name in the world of fine confections, has recently launched its newest top-line cake collection, the Premier Series. This series represents the epitome of luxury in dessert-making, offering a selection of exquisite cakes that are perfect for special occasions.

A Testament to Quality

From the very beginning, Wako has been dedicated to pursuing the finest ingredients and meticulous techniques in its sweet creations. The Premier Series is the culmination of this commitment, designed to elevate everyday moments into something extraordinary. Each cake in this series is crafted not only with the highest quality ingredients but also with a thoughtful attention to texture and flavor profile. The pastry chefs at Wako skillfully blend their expertise with premium flavors, creating a rich taste experience that is unparalleled in quality. The very name Premier, meaning 'top-tier', reflects Wako's aesthetic vision and dedication to excellence.

Luxurious Size and Design

In terms of size, the cakes in the Premier Series are approximately 1.5 times larger than the standard offerings, allowing them to be enjoyed luxuriously by individuals. These cakes stand out not just for their flavors, but for their elegant designs, suitable for any joyous celebration.

Exciting Launches

The launch of the Premier Series will include two standout creations. The first offering is the Premier Robe de Reine, priced at ¥3,780, available from September 1 to November 30. This remarkable Mont Blanc cake combines premium Japanese chestnuts with hojicha, a roasted green tea, to create a sumptuous dessert. Every day, the chef delicately pipes chestnut paste made from the rare Kumamoto variety known for its robust flavor and aroma. The cake's exquisite presentation is reminiscent of a royal gown, aptly named after the French phrase meaning ‘Queen’s Dress’. The carefully selected ingredients, including free-range eggs, amplify the rich and deep flavors of the chestnuts, inviting you to indulge in its heavenly experience.

Moreover, the Premier Ensemble, set to debut on December 1 for a limited time, is an ambitious chocolate cake that elegantly marries high-quality yuzu from Tokushima with the finest chocolate. This cake features a complex structure, incorporating two types of chocolate mousse and three varieties of cream, resulting in over ten distinct layers that speak to a harmony of taste and texture. The interplay of the refreshing yuzu enhances the rich chocolate, creating a refined flavor experience. Additionally, it is adorned with delicate yuzu flowers, enhancing its graceful composition.

Meet the Pastry Chef

Leading the creation of these delightful cakes is Wako's talented Pastry Chef Yudai Ono. After graduating from culinary school, he joined Patisserie La Vie Douce in 2013 and later became the pastry chef at the Michelin-starred Ogasawara House. In 2022, he ascended to the role of sous-chef at Wako, and by April 2024, he will take up the mantle of head pastry chef at Wako. Ono has a decorated competition history, securing a bronze medal in the candy art category at the 2017 Japan Cake Show and a silver at the Utsumi Cup Junior category in 2018.
