Sinopec's Generous Contribution to Cairo University

On November 16, 2025, the China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, commonly known as Sinopec, marked a significant milestone in cultural exchange by donating a collection of 1,000 selected books to Cairo University. This act forms part of their broader initiative called the Silk Road Book House – China Bookshelf, aimed at fostering better cultural ties between China and Egypt.

The inauguration ceremony saw the attendance of notable figures, including Mr. Lu Chunsheng, Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, and Mr. Yu Yongsheng, General Manager of Sinopec Group's Brand Department, alongside more than 260 faculty members and students from Cairo University. These participants gathered to witness the donation that encapsulates two nations' commitment to cultural dialogue and educational cooperation.

Mr. Lu Chunsheng spoke passionately about the influence of books and culture, stating, "Books record, disseminate, and enrich culture, while culture defines, maintains, and promotes the development of civilization." He emphasized that mutual learning can only occur through cultural interactions and understanding.
