SEAM Enhances Leadership Team to Drive Growth and Featured Initiatives
SEAM Enhances Leadership Team
SEAM, Inc., a pioneer in advancing social equity within the built environment, is set to take significant strides in its operations following the expansion of its executive leadership team. Recently, the organization appointed Shane Gring as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Christopher Pirschel as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to accelerate its growth and operational scale.
The co-founder and CEO, Rainey Shane, remains committed to the vision behind the Social Equity Assessment Method (SEAM) Standard and Certification. He expressed enthusiasm regarding the new appointments, stating, “We are entering a defining stage in SEAM’s evolution. Our mission remains constant—advancing equity in the built environment. What’s changing is our scale. This expansion allows us to grow with intention, credibility, and strength.”
Operational Leadership for Enhanced Delivery
Shane Gring arrives at SEAM with over 15 years of experience in mission-driven enterprises, particularly within the green building and social impact sectors. Gring founded BOULD, a national green job training social enterprise, which has flourished to 12 locations across 10 states and has helped certify more than 60 affordable housing projects with LEED certification. Furthermore, he co-led the development of a social equity framework at the U.S. Green Building Council, impacting more than 8.5 million square feet of under-resourced real estate.
Gring emphasizes the importance of operational systems, noting, “SEAM has established a powerful framework for advancing social equity in real estate. My role is to improve the systems, partnerships, and execution mechanisms to support that framework at scale. We’re building an operational backbone that allows this work to grow.”
A Focus on Market Visibility and Adoption
Joining Gring is Christopher Pirschel, whose decade-long career encompasses brand development, communications, and growth within the certification and membership sectors. His experience includes influential roles at the International WELL Building Institute and the Oncology Nursing Society. Pirschel opines, “SEAM’s powerful foundation for equity in commercial real estate is primed for adoption. Social sustainability is more than a certification conversation; it’s a business conversation that resonates with leaders who understand the power of people in their business's success. We’ll ensure that message reaches those who are ready to act on it.”
With this newly expanded leadership team, SEAM is positioned to amplify its standard, support its practitioners and SEAM Accredited Professionals (APs), and become a resilient, globally recognized framework for promoting social sustainability in the built environment. This transformation signifies not just a strategic enhancement for SEAM, but also a commitment to fostering equitable practices that could set new industry standards.
As a nonprofit entity, SEAM, Inc. carries the mission of improving people-first practices through initiatives like SEAM Certification and the SEAM AP credential, bolstered by ongoing educational efforts. With its enhanced leadership team, SEAM is poised to make a substantial impact, fostering growth in both operational capability and social equity initiatives worldwide.
