GAC Unveils AION UT in Europe

On September 24, 2026, GAC introduced its innovative AION UT model at a launch event in Denmark and Norway. This dual announcement showcased the brand's commitment to expanding its presence in the European automotive market. Concurrently, GAC held a separate public test drive event in Austria, enabling local media and potential customers to experience the AION UT and its sibling model, the AION V in real-time conditions.

The launch event was hosted in Copenhagen on September 17, gathering journalists from both Denmark and Norway. They were given a thorough presentation of the GAC brand and the AION UT, along with short test drives. This significant introduction was facilitated by Electric Way, the distributor appointed by the Sulland Group, which will manage the import and distribution of GAC vehicles in these two Scandinavian countries. In Austria, the public test drives occurred on September 18 and 19, at both the Atelier 7121 and NILS am See. Here, attendees got hands-on experience driving the AION UT and AION V, an opportunity that broadened the event's appeal beyond just automotive journalists to include fleet managers, prospective distributors, and consumers interested in the electric vehicle market.

The AION UT is a compact electric hatchback that enriches GAC's European lineup. Designed by GAC's Milan team, the vehicle measures 4,270 mm in length, features a 2,750 mm wheelbase, and offers a spacious boot of 440 liters, which expands to an impressive 1,600 liters when the rear seats are folded down. In its European configuration, the AION UT boasts a WLTP range of up to 430 km, and its suspension has been fine-tuned to meet the demands of European driving conditions. It is equipped with amenities such as a heat pump and a 14.6-inch touchscreen that supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Moreover, the AION UT has received a five-star rating in the Euro NCAP 2026 crash tests, demonstrating its safety credentials. The vehicle comes with several advanced driving assistance features, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assistance.

The events in Denmark and Norway, paired with the public test drives in Austria, mark a significant step in GAC's broader European development strategy. The company’s regional efforts encompass design activities based in Milan, vehicle assembly in Austria, coordination from Amsterdam, and spare parts logistics from Rotterdam.
