Jackery Launches PLAY PARK Project
In an innovative initiative aimed at enhancing disaster preparedness, Jackery Japan has unveiled the 'Jackery PLAY PARK' project, beginning September 19, 2025. The company, a global leader in portable power solutions and solar panels, is working together with Noto Town to support the development of 'KNOTO Meshi,' a delicious emergency food designed to aid those in need during disaster situations.
The 'Jackery PLAY PARK' project is grounded in the concept of combining joy with preparedness. This first endeavor features KNOTO Meshi, a gourmet emergency meal that draws on the unique flavors and rich culinary traditions of Noto, catalyzing community engagement and providing substantial support for disaster relief efforts.
Through this project, Jackery aims to transform the conventional views of disaster readiness by intertwining culture, enjoyment, and safety. Attendees at the event can look forward to various cultural activities, discussions, and live performances featuring artists utilizing portable power systems to power their setups. The project invites the public to consider how the everyday joys of life can evolve into new forms of disaster preparedness.
About KNOTO Meshi
The KNOTO Meshi initiative comes in response to the need for effective food resources in the aftermath of natural disasters, inspired by the lessons learned from the Noto Peninsula earthquake last year. Through collaboration with local experts and chefs in Noto, Jackery is not only providing infrastructure support but is also focusing on innovating how emergency food can be both nourishing and enjoyable.
In the face of adversity, food plays a critical role in supporting the emotional and physical well-being of affected individuals. Thus, KNOTO Meshi seeks to ensure that emergency meals can be something people look forward to rather than just conventional rations. The first dish, 'Noto Tom Yum Kung,' is an homage to the classic Thai soup, using local ingredients and culinary techniques unique to the Noto region.
This original recipe incorporates 'Ishiri,' a traditional fish sauce from Ishikawa, instead of the typical nam pla, resulting in a delightful broth that is both mild and customizable. Consumers can adjust the seasonings to their liking at the time of preparation, reflecting the importance of allowing personal touches to food experiences, especially during challenging times.
The packaging design for the Noto Tom Yum Kung is crafted by Mayu Ikesaki, a local graphic designer, who encapsulated the spirit of resilience and hope that the dish embodies. Ikesaki expressed her passion for creating a meal that could bring comfort and joy to those in distress, hoping it could provide strength during tough moments.
Project Launch and Future Plans
The KNOTO Meshi product is developed by the craft food brand 'ONE POT WONDER,' which aims to create community-centric culinary experiences. By utilizing a lab kitchen that allows for small-batch production, ONE POT WONDER is focusing on the philosophy that meals should be enjoyable even in dire circumstances, with plans to launch KNOTO Meshi in November 2025.
The Jackery PLAY PARK project will kick off with a special event at Tokyu Plaza Omotesando, featuring an exploration of these innovative concepts and a tasting session for the Noto Tom Yum Kung. Set for September 20-21, attendees can learn more about Jackery's commitment to community support and disaster readiness.
