Blockchain for Good Alliance Leads Global Digital Collaboration at UN IGF 2025

Blockchain for Good Alliance Takes Center Stage at UN IGF 2025

The Blockchain for Good Alliance (BGA), a prominent nonprofit organization founded by Bybit, recently played a pivotal role in the 20th anniversary celebration of the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF) held in Oslo. In collaboration with the Singapore Internet Governance Forum (SGIGF), BGA hosted an exclusive high-level dinner titled "Bridging the Future: Blockchain, Governance, and Global Cooperation" at the historic Akershus Fortress in Oslo.

This dinner served as an official side event supported by the UN IGF Secretariat, gathering top representatives from governments, multilateral organizations, and leaders in the blockchain and AI spheres to promote dialogue on building an inclusive, ethical, and interoperable digital infrastructure.

Glenn Tan, Director of Global Affairs at the BGA, led the event along with SGIGF co-founders Henry Wang and Una Wang. Among the distinguished guests were His Excellency Dharambeer Gokhool, President of Mauritius; Argentine Deputy Pamela Calletti; Chilean Senator Kenneth Pugh; and representatives from various UN agencies and national parliaments.

The focus of the evening’s discourse highlighted the transformative role that blockchain can play in establishing a trustworthy and collaborative global digital ecosystem. President Gokhool underscored Mauritius's commitment to an ethical, inclusive, and rights-based digital governance model, stating, "As we stand at the crossroads of a digital future, we are reminded that trust, collaboration, and shared values must be the cornerstones of our collective journey into the age of AI and new technologies. The IGF 2025 was more than just a conference – it was a collective call to our conscience."

Echoing this sentiment, Glenn Tan emphasized the urgency of developing future-oriented infrastructure, suggesting that as blockchain technology matures from mere hype to a solid internet infrastructure, it is crucial that today's systems serve the common good of tomorrow. "This meeting symbolizes our joint commitment to a future built on trust and innovation," he stated.

Adding a regional perspective, Henry Wang remarked, "In light of the 20th anniversary of the UN IGF, which advocates for shaping global internet governance, this dinner acts as a timely reminder that the next 20 years must be oriented beyond sectors, systems, and sovereignty. Blockchain can become the connective tissue of a truly inclusive, decentralized, and intelligent internet when aligned with responsible governance and AI ethics."

The evening reasserted BGA's mission to foster cross-border collaboration and responsible digital transformation. These discussions are set to continue at the first IGF conference in Singapore on October 1, 2025, where regional stakeholders will engage in global dialogues about inclusive and resilient internet governance.
