Kyoei Steel Partners with Clean Energy Connect on Virtual PPA to Enhance Decarbonization Efforts

Collaboration Between Kyoei Steel and Clean Energy Connect

Kyoei Steel Co., headquartered in Osaka, has entered a significant partnership with Clean Energy Connect (CEC), based in Tokyo. This collaboration involves a Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) set to commence in November 2026. Through this agreement, CEC will develop approximately 14 MW of non-FIT (Feed-in Tariff) solar power plants, producing additional environmental value for Kyoei Steel.

The renewable energy generated will enable Kyoei Steel to significantly reduce its carbon footprint, with expectations of reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 6,300 tons annually. This initiative represents a major step in Kyoei Steel's ongoing efforts to mitigate environmental impact through energy-efficient practices and sustainable operations.

Ongoing Commitment to Decarbonization

Kyoei Steel has been consistently working towards lowering its environmental footprint, employing energy conservation equipment, and enhancing production efficiency. The new Virtual PPA will see the establishment of about 160 non-FIT solar power plants across Japan, initially generating around 15,000,000 kWh of renewable energy per year. By securing this long-term environmental value, Kyoei Steel aims to not only reduce its CO2 emissions but also contribute to the wider deployment and expansion of renewable energy sources within Japan.

Additionally, this collaboration is intended not just to enhance Kyoei Steel’s sustainability credentials but also to increase the value of its products. The company aspires to achieve a balance between contributing to a sustainable society and boosting its corporate value.

CEC's Comprehensive Decarbonization Solutions

CEC stands at the forefront of supporting companies in their decarbonization endeavors. They provide an all-encompassing solution from the installation of renewable energy to operational management and the utilization of environmental value. CEC specializes in developing small non-FIT solar plants distributed throughout Japan, thus enabling businesses to access additional renewable energy through off-site corporate PPA services.

For this partnership, CEC will utilize its expertise and operational know-how from developing decentralized solar power plants to support Kyoei Steel's long-term decarbonization. CEC is committed to continuing to offer customized green electricity solutions tailored to client needs and usage patterns, furthering the mission to enable sustainable practices within businesses while promoting the uptake of renewable energy in the country.
