During the recent 2025 Global South Financiers Forum held in Beijing, Zheng Peng, the chairman and president of Pengfei Group, highlighted innovative strategies that promote green development among energy enterprises in the Global South. With a firm commitment to China’s dual carbon targets, the company is paving the way for a sustainable energy future with its integration of hydrogen energy.

A Commitment to Sustainability

As one of the leading firms in China, Pengfei Group has taken determined steps toward achieving carbon neutrality by 2060 and peaking carbon emissions by 2030. Zheng emphasized the company's dedication to clean energy, describing its vision to become a globally recognized smart enterprise. A core focus of their efforts revolves around hydrogen energy, addressing its production, storage, transportation, processing, and utilization.

The company has established a state-of-the-art hydrogen energy industrial park that showcases a complete industrial chain and advanced processes. This initiative emphasizes the importance of a holistic approach to hydrogen energy, effectively setting a benchmark in the industry. Zheng noted that the park had transformed into a demonstration scenario that illustrates the full potential of hydrogen energy applications.

Leading Projects and Innovations

Pengfei Group has initiated several groundbreaking projects, including hydrogen production from coke oven gas and water electrolysis. Notably, they have established four hydrogen refueling integrated energy islands, one of which is capable of refueling up to eight tonnes of hydrogen daily. Furthermore, the company operates a fleet of 830 hydrogen-powered vehicles that collectively have traveled 35 million kilometers, showcasing the practical applications of their technologies in real-world scenarios.

Moreover, in collaboration with China Mobile Shanxi branch, the company launched an AI industrial intelligence laboratory, a first in the telecom industry. This venture aims to model full-chain security management for the hydrogen energy sector, enhancing operational efficiency and safety.
