MetLife Partners with Global Citizen for Economic Transformation and Sustainable Communities

MetLife and Global Citizen Join Forces for a Sustainable Future

In a groundbreaking move to promote economic transformation and create sustainable communities, MetLife, a leading global insurance group, has announced a significant three-year partnership with Global Citizen, an organization renowned for its commitment to eradicating poverty worldwide. This collaboration leverages MetLife’s extensive experience in fostering economic security and building community sustainability, aiming to support and enhance the programs of Global Citizen.

A Commitment to Education and Empowerment

As a key partner, MetLife will contribute financially, engage its employees in volunteer activities, and utilize its global network to push forward transformative initiatives centered around education and economic empowerment. The partnership represents a robust commitment to tackle pressing societal issues, especially in communities where access to education and resources is lacking.

MetLife Foundation has pledged $9 million as seed funding for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. This fund is dedicated to providing grants to over 200 local organizations across the globe, with an emphasis on promoting quality education, literacy, and sports participation opportunities. Nonprofits focused on improving educational access from kindergarten through high school, including those in Japan, are encouraged to apply for grants until December 31, 2025.

Transformative Potential of Education

Dirk Osse, President and CEO of MetLife, emphasized, "Access to educational resources has the power to significantly change lives. The FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund harnesses the universal language of sports and the power of education to provide children with a brighter future." He highlighted that the partnership with Global Citizen and the support from MetLife Foundation will spark positive changes within Japanese communities and contribute to sustainable social development.

Organizations dedicated to enhancing the quality of education and sports opportunities for children are eligible to submit applications for funding. Grants ranging from $50,000 to $250,000 will support approximately 150 organizations that cater to activities with populations between 500 and 10,000 individuals. The first recipients of these grants are expected to be announced in early 2026.

A Commitment to Sustainable Development

The partnership with Global Citizen exemplifies MetLife's unwavering commitment to building sustainable communities, providing opportunities for employee engagement, volunteerism, and active participation in educational and community support programs. It marks a pivotal moment in MetLife’s journey towards contributing positively to society’s fabric.
