Partnership Announcement
Tobu Top Tours, headquartered in Sumida, Tokyo, has announced a strategic partnership with Spark+, a company specializing in AI solutions. This collaboration aims to develop AI agents specifically tailored for the travel and tourism sector. The partnership marks a significant step forward in addressing various operational challenges faced by the industry.
Background of the Collaboration
Tobu Top Tours identified several operational inefficiencies in their workflow, particularly with the increasing time spent on preparing proposal documents and the burden of data entry in back-office operations. This situation has hindered the ability to allocate sufficient time for value-added activities. Additionally, the consolidation of vast amounts of data for management decisions has become a pressing issue, contributing to delays in decision-making.
The collaboration with Spark+ comes in response to these challenges by deploying Spark+’s high-precision RAG platform, ORION. This advanced technology will facilitate the development and implementation of a suite of AI agents to assist in sales support, management, and internal information sharing. RAG, or Retrieval-Augmented Generation, is a technology that allows AI to search and reference external databases to generate accurate responses.
Key Initiatives
The partnership will focus on three main use cases in their joint development efforts:
1.
Internal Portal Integration: The goal is to consolidate inquiries across departments, reducing the inquiry response workload by 50%. By automating existing workflows through AI agents, the organization aims to streamline repetitive tasks and enhance overall operational efficiency.
2.
Enhanced Management: All financial management processes conducted via Excel across various locations will be integrated. AI will autonomously conduct budget simulations and automatically prepare materials for monthly management meetings. This automation aims to facilitate quick decision-making in management.
3.
Sales Efficiency and Proposal Strengthening: By utilizing AI agents to reference past negotiation data and proposals, the initiative aims to automatically generate proposal materials tailored to customer needs. This will significantly reduce the time sales representatives spend on preparing estimates and proposals, allowing them to focus more on delivering value to clients.
Future Direction
Moving forward, priority will be given to enhancing the A2A (Agent-to-Agent) functionality of the internal portal and advancing knowledge management in sales activities. The aim is to gradually expand the implementation of AI agents across the entire organization.
Traditionally, digital transformation in the travel industry has primarily focused on inbound tourism and support for travelers. However, this initiative sets out to fundamentally transform internal operations, reshape employee work styles, and establish a leading model for AI utilization within the travel and tourism sectors. By doing so, it hopes to drive the next stage of growth for Japan's tourism industry.
