Exploring Shanghai’s Innovation Ecosystem: Insights from Gen Z Students

In July 2025, the Antai Global Summer Program (AGSP) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University opened its doors to more than 80 students from 28 premier universities across 22 countries. This initiative aimed to provide these Gen Z participants with a close-up experience of Shanghai's dynamic innovation environment. The program emphasized experiential learning and sought to document these experiences through a multimedia project titled "Gen Z Perspectives on Shanghai's Sci-Tech Innovation."

The immersive program included visits to notable sites showcasing advancements in science and technology, with each location offering students a deeper understanding of China's technological landscape. The first stop on the itinerary was Medmotion, a facility dedicated to AI-enhanced rehabilitation technologies. Next, the group traveled to Bright Dairy, where they explored a state-of-the-art automated dairy plant. With over 70% of the world's major ports utilizing these zero-emission cranes, students gained insights into how automation is reshaping supply chains and environmental impacts.

The final stop was the Shanghai International Circuit, known for hosting the F1 Chinese Grand Prix.
