BLUETTI and UN-Habitat Strengthen Partnership for Clean Energy Access in Africa
Expanding Access to Clean Energy in Africa
In a significant move towards sustainable development, BLUETTI has enhanced its partnership with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) to expand clean energy access throughout Africa. This collaboration aims to accelerate the uptake of clean and sustainable energy resources, especially benefiting vulnerable communities in urban areas.
The Lighting An African Family Initiative
Building upon the existing initiative, Lighting An African Family (LAAF), which has aided households in Kenya for the past four years, the program has positively impacted over 500 families and more than 2,000 individuals in urban and suburban areas with limited access to essential services. The majority of these households are led by women, emphasizing the program’s focus on gender inclusivity.
The Role of Renewable Energy
During the Devolution Conference 2025 held in Kenya from August 12 to 15, BLUETTI showcased how clean energy solutions contribute to housing development, urban resilience, and smart city implementations. The conference brought together various stakeholders, including institutions and the Kenyan government, to stress the critical role of renewable energy in fostering a sustainable future for all.
Community Engagement
The enhanced partnership has connected residents from two urban territories—Muhoroni, a rapidly growing suburban area in Kisumu County, and informal settlements in the central region of Nairobi, including EX-Grogon and Mathare. In a recent initiative, BLUETTI provided 500 solar-powered E60 lighting kits to improve energy access for over 2,000 local residents.
Environmental Impact
This initiative is projected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 337.5 tons over the next five years, promoting urban resilience and elevating the ecological awareness among the population.

Future Plans for Expansion
Following the successful implementation in Kenya, BLUETTI and UN-Habitat plan to extend similar programs to other African nations, reinforcing their commitment to sustainable development and equitable energy distribution.
