Wisq Secures $15 Million Funding to Enhance HR Services
Wisq, recognized for its pioneering role in Agentic HR, has successfully closed a $15 million funding round, primarily backed by existing investors such as Norwest Venture Partners, Shasta Ventures, and True Ventures. This funding is directed towards advancing Wisq's mission of reshaping the HR landscape, driving it to a more human-centric and AI-led future.
The highlight of this funding round is the introduction of the HR Language Model (HRLM), which is touted as the first large language model specifically designed for the intricate and policy-sensitive domain of enterprise HR. Unlike generic reasoning models, HRLM is optimized for areas critical to HR operations such as service delivery, performance management, and risk assessment, offering superior accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. It promises to lower operational costs significantly compared to existing models, making it a game-changer for HR teams.
Jim Barnett, CEO and Co-Founder of Wisq, articulated the vision behind this initiative, stating, "The future of AI in HR isn't about chatbots; it’s about having a true colleague in the workplace." Barnett emphasized that HR work is too crucial to be managed by one-size-fits-all AI solutions, thus the development of HRLM aims to meet these specialized needs effectively.
In conjunction with the launch of HRLM, Wisq has introduced a pioneering benchmark named Hurdle. This benchmark evaluates AI performance specifically in HR activities like employee relations and policy interpretation. Impressively, HRLM performed on par with leading reasoning models, while demonstrating faster processing speeds and significantly reduced costs.
Wisq's strategic approach is crystal clear: their goal is not just to automate HR processes, but to elevate them through intelligent AI solutions. Barnett further reinforced this vision with the phrase, "AI First, Deeply Human," highlighting the profound potential of Wisq's agentic platform to transform traditional HR methodologies.
The substantial funding will also facilitate further development of Wisq’s AI capabilities and play a critical role in expanding their engineering workforce and market presence. Established in 2022 by the team behind Glint, Wisq has thus far raised a total of $55 million in venture capital to support its innovative journey in HR technology.
