Silvi Cement Enhances Distribution Network with New Terminals in NC and OH

Silvi Cement Expands Distribution Network

In a significant step towards strengthening its presence in the construction materials market, Silvi Cement, a division of Silvi Materials, has unveiled plans for a substantial expansion of its distribution network. The company's latest move includes the establishment of two new terminals aimed at enhancing the distribution of cementitious materials across the Eastern United States.

On October 9, 2025, Silvi announced the opening of a temporary cement rail load-out facility at the deep-water port of Morehead City, North Carolina. This facility is fully operational and readily available for both pickup and delivery, marking the company's strategic focus on providing efficient distribution services to its growing clientele. Furthermore, construction is already underway for a new cement import terminal at the same port, slated to commence operations in 2027.

New Import Terminal Details

The upcoming terminal will feature two expansive storage domes, each capable of holding 100,000 tons of Type I/II low-alkali cement and Grade 120 slag. With round-the-clock loading services and direct rail loadout capabilities, the new facility aims to accommodate increasing market demands efficiently. Until the completion of these domes, the terminals will be supported by rail logistics from Silvi's flagship terminal located in Bristol, Pennsylvania, which itself boasts a capacity of 165,000 metric tons across three domes.

Expansion to Ohio

Additionally, Silvi is branching out by developing a large-scale, rail-served cement distribution facility in Central Ohio. Expected to be operational by spring 2026, this terminal is designed to manage an impressive 250,000 tons of cement annually. This new facility will offer similar product lines, focusing on Type I/II low-alkali cement and Grade 120 slag, as the company strives to meet the increasing demand in the Midwest.

Silvi's commitment to quality is evident in its approach to sourcing materials. The Type I/II cement offered is imported from reputable suppliers globally, ensuring that the product is naturally low in alkalis and manufactured with advanced equipment that guarantees superior strength and rapid setting times. This quality assurance enhances the company's capability to serve high-rise buildings, highways, and warehouses efficiently.

Strategic Growth Plans

Laurence J. Silvi II, Co-President of Silvi Materials, expressed optimism about the expansion, commenting, "Our geographic expansion represents the next step in Silvi Materials' long-term growth strategy. Every initiative we undertake is driven by our commitment to provide our partners with the highest-quality materials available, delivered with the reliability that Silvi is renowned for."

Founded in 1947 and headquartered in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania, Silvi Materials is a prominent player in the ready-mix concrete, sand mining, stone mining, cement, and slag industries. With over 40 years of experience in the cement sector, the company continues to adapt and respond to market demands, ensuring that they remain a key supplier in construction materials within the eastern U.S. and beyond.

This expansion not only represents Silvi's ambition to solidify its market presence but also underscores the increasing need for quality construction materials in response to growing construction demands across the country. As the company gears up for future projects, customers and partners can look forward to improved availability and logistics that come with these new developments.
